I have a second hand SE100 since 2 month and really like the sound with my Klipsch Heritage HP-3 and my ISN H40.
However, I'm interested in going a step ahead with headphone and IEM. Can you give me some advices ? (I'm thinking about the Focal Clear. Is it a good match for the SE100 ?)
Hi,
I own HP3 and I sold Clear, it’s a side grade, focal sounds more monitor than HP3 and it’s harder to drive.
If you want clear shine forget DAPs.
If you can, listen Fostex TH909 and Penon Volt.
Been using the SE100 for more than a year, maybe 2. And the screen is starting to show a line. Its 1 vertical line from top to bottom. Anyone had this happened before? What can I do about it?
I recently had the chance to purchase a B-stock SE100 as companion for my SE200 and it took me some time to discover that the SE100 firmware is still lacking some features of the SE200
Yes, that's true. But the SE100 was introduced only 2 years ago. Devices of such value should have an appropriate life cycle and support period.
And, the SE200 already has the option to sort Artists by Album Artist. So IMHO this could be easily integrated into the SE100 firmware.
Imagine having 10 "Various artists" albums with 20 tracks each (and each track being performed by a different artist).
This will add 200 new entries to your Artist category and render it more or less useless.
I used to own an AK300 then got diverted by the Sony’s (zx300,WM1A,zx507,WM1Z) and recently picked up an AK240 locally for a great price and it reminded me how much I like the AK line. Gone are the Sony’s and I’m thinking of the SE100 as an upgrade to the aging ak240. Can I expect good things? I don’t stream or use things like tidal, only onboard or sdcard.
@SBranson: Yes, definitely. The firmware of the SE100 is a bit outdated, though.
In terms of sound quality the ES9038PRO DAC should speak for itself. But beware, the DAC is the "desktop" version of the 9038 line and needs a lot of juice. So, if you're looking for a used (or B-stock) device I'd recommend to check battery life/standby before purchase. I get about 10-11h depending on the cans I use.

Thanks. I cant imagine the firmware is older than my AK240 and I have no problem with that and thanks for the tip on the battery.
Battery life on the AK240 is the only real downside at the moment..
