Astell&Kern SA700 - Past meets Present

MagicGuy want know if we can downgrade or choose firmware in Sa700 or SP1000 ?
This has been discussed extensively in the SP1000 and other AK threads. All firmware is only available via OTA update and we do not have previous versions of firmware available.

Astell&Kern Stay updated on Astell&Kern at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

Not only, my first question was :

« @JasonNYC : do you know if the different firmware’s update changed the sound signature just as the SP2K has been ?

I tried the SA700 few months ago, and I tried it again today.
The sound I got in my memory is totally different from what I heard today...
And this is not a sudden change. »

Regarding the firmware updates.

We are now dependent on your updates, without having the possibility to revert to the old version if the new one does not suit us.
That is a big problem.
Most of the firmware updates are interesting, but sometimes it doesn't...
Remember the SP2K... The updates changed the sound.
Many people have complained.

I will probably keep my SP1K for a while, but it will probably be my last AK.

One last thing, when I read "factory data reset", I expect to go back to the 1st version of the firmware, without the updates ... A "factory data reset" in short.

Thanks

Oh, as we are talking together, I would like to propose (I know you passed the message) "Radio Paradise" as supported APK

The sound is good, and as I said, this is a good DAP.
I found it more technical/musical than the AK240 for example, but some may found the AK240 better.
This was not anymore the sound I was looking for, so I sold it :)

I already own an SP1K (not the same price, not exactly the same sound => this is normal).
I was looking for another sound.

Sa700 is like a baby SP1K/Amp

I think the biggest ones here are a sound based on personal preference.

The SR700 is a very good device, my desire for sound has developed in a different direction.

If there is an AK that is similar to the sound of a DX220 with amp3 or amp8, I could get weak ...
But then again, on the DX220 I can switch completely and hear the tupe amp9, that's great

No thanks, I'd rather buy a product of this price from a retailer.
