When I check currently playing at, the bitrate changes depending on the song. But what we can't see is the the sp2k upsampling everything to 24/192 ?

Yes, Amazon does show the bitrate of the Track being played but the Amazon Android app upsamples everything to the device capability which for this device is 24/192. It doesn't have anything to do with the SP2000 itself, it is just how the app works on any Android device. It is the same for other Android DAPs such as Fiio, Hiby and Shanling as well. It's also true for external DACs and the iOS app. It's easy to determine when you have a DAP or DAC that actually shows the bitrate in the status bar or on the DAC itself, unfortunately A&K DAPs don't have that feature.

Which should be something that AK can implement, no? @JasonNYC. The AK UI is starting to look rather spartan and dated. Time for a refresh perhaps?

now that the KANN Alpha is Roon Ready, I am looking fwd to hearing some real world user experiences with regards to battery life when you are using your SP1000/ SP2000/ KANN Alpha exclusively for Roon streaming. my SP2000 battery seems to drop from 100% to 50% just after one hour of listening to regular 16/44 music where the volume is at 105. my headphones are AudioQuest NightHawk Carbon if that matters.

Can anybody please comment on their experiences of using SP2000 with utopia ?

I find the SP2000 can drive the Utopia with no issues. I have recently added the Cayin C9 to the chain and that really sings but rest assured the Utopia is relatively easy to drive.

Is there a trick to activating the notification bar? The top border of the included leather case means I can't quite reach to the top of the screen to swipe or activate the notification bar reliably. Which is a pain as I don't know how else to activate the USB line out (I use mine as a digital transport into a Chord TT2).

Press and hold the very top of the screen. You should see the notification bar pop forward, then you can drag down.

It is being looked into now. Priority was pushing out the 14+ firmware updates to fix the embedded Tidal app as there was no set date for Apple lossless to become available. Now that the last of the player updates went out this morning and AK Connect app updates for iOS and Android are being worked on, this will be focused on also.

I traded in my alpha kann for sp2000 and am looking for a suitable IEM. I would like it too be as holographic as possible with wide stage and depth. What would you guys recommend? CA Solaris 2020?

I’m in the same boat. I have kaiser encore for a few years and love them with this dap. I have heard that Noble Khan are a good pairing, but they’re plastic. So have been put off by it’s looks. Lots of love for 64 audio top tier.. it’s very subjective. I think I will wait for nobles next flagship now. I am happy with the encores and decent occ balanced cable. Have fun and trust your ears

I should also mention, it does not look like Apple lossless has hit Android devices yet, as it is not available with the latest Apple Music app version on my Android smartphone here in the US and I've seen reports of other Android phones running the latest Apple Music Android app not getting lossless. I am assuming there will be a new app version pushed out for Android soon.

Apparently it's in the 3.6.0 version which is currently a beta release.
