I will go with iPhone and dongle for the time being. But I am contemplating moving on to the DX300. The M8 runs old Android, doesn’t it? For me version 9 would be minimum after the experiences I made with DAPs now.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Qobuz when I tried it. I missed a suggestion function that is offered by all the other services.

Well, the new FiiO DAPs will be running on Android 10 and the same Snapdragon 660 SOC which DX300 uses and is pretty quIck.

In respect of Apple Music app and AK DAPs, from the Kann Alpha thread you would not have seen:

Using Qobuz when integrated in roon is a completely different story, Then it benefits from roon's new suggestion function. I think it's called Valance and was integrated in roon since version 1.7 .
This works absolutely awesome for me. But, I hav to admit that in my view Qobuz is a classical / jazz specialist and genre-wise it is rather not focusing on edm/electronic.

That is indeed very good to hear. Maybe A&K will now show some sympathy for Apple Music. (Or are forced to do haha )

Perhaps a stupid question but if you know the specs of source and iem, is there a way to calculate the dB levels to determine a safe listening volume for extended periods of time?
In my case im trying to figure out the safe volume for Vision Ears VE8 hooked up to AK SP1000M via the 2.5 balanced connection.
Online I find pictures of some people having volume on 50 via balanced connection and I can’t help but think (haven’t tried myself) that running a sensitive IEM on that volume would just cause instant damage to your hearing.

I am using SP2K with VE8 on volume 50 via 2.5 balanced & sounds just nice for me. (Not too loud or soft)

Hmm Thanks, I'm not sure if the SP2000 puts out less or more than the sp1000m :D
50 sounds very high no?

Different source though as on AK I found this:

SP1000M:
Output Level
Unbalance 2.1Vrms / Balance 4.2Vrms (Condition No Load)

SP2000:
Output Level Unbalanced 3.0Vrms / Balanced 6.0Vrms (Condition No Load)

Nope, 50 sounds perfect for me but your ears may differ

True, whatever works for you!
I'm not so strong / knowledgable on the specifications part.
For example, the difference in specs, can cause a difference in loudness I assume but I'm not sure which way (which one is louder with the same IEM) and neither do I know how big that impact is :)

Neither do I in anyway is an expert, I am just an avid music lover, not even an audiophile

Update on Tidal app:

Thank you for your patience over the last month as Astell&Kern’s engineering and software development teams have been working hard to implement updates to the embedded Tidal app. As this is third-party software that needs to be integrated into more than a dozen different players, it has taken a bit of time to complete and test the updated firmware.

The new firmware is in the final stages of review by our partners and should be available within the next week or two once validated. We will begin rolling out the updated firmware model by model, so we ask that you please be patient as you wait for your model to receive the update. Please follow our social media pages, your regional dealers and distributors for additional updates on the firmware release.

More information can be found here - https://www.astellnkern.com/eng/con...ew.asp?search=&word=&idx=1000718&page=1&no=55

Thank you again for being part of the Astell&Kern family.

Please let me know how long does it take to fully charge the AK SP2000. I use the charger of Iphone 5V/1A, it takes 2.5 hours to fully charge. According to AK's documentation, charging 5V/2A requires nearly 5 hours. I don't understand why there is such a big difference. So is the battery bad?

BTW, please tell me how long to use SP2000, I tested using flac music file, volume 60, inear headphones AKG3003 (2BA, 1DD), SP2000 lasted 7 hours from 100 % down 10%.
Thanks you!

So, I’m thinking about buying the SP2000, but seeing as how it’s a bit of an older model now, I’m wondering: has anyone heard if or when there might be something like an SP3000 released? I don’t want to spend this kind of money and then see an updated model released three months from now.
