So... we need a RWAK380Cu ! :)

Mayhaps instead, a RW modded ONKYO DP-X1 which at least has the TIDAL + MQA that you so crave and as you pointed out is is only $1000. Plenty of savings from the price differential from the Cu to fund the RW mod. :)

why is the ak380 copper sale? personal, not pleasing, rather have cash in hand, audition now time for sale, found a more pleasing total package dap or just simply time to move on? explain if you don't mind.

Sorry for the late reply.  I am selling because I don't use it enough to have it sitting on my desk all day, plus I could use the cash to help fix my car's wrap.  The unit is still 98% new, as I haven't really touched it after my initial testing back in Feb.

kool drsheep. i understand for the sale. it's about all priority in daily life. i was about to return my AK380cu because of an issue with it. after some trouble shooting & corrective remedies i will CERTAINLY keep my AK380cu and also purchase the matching AK380 cu amp. i LOVE my copper too much and enjoy every chance & sec i get to listen to it. only flaw is the oxidation that is currently taking place.

trade off i guess but i will definitely take it.

Ak380cu no matter how good still no match with my Chord Hugo.

-remark from a guy who is just jelly

i have both chord hugo and ak380cu, this is my only daily pairing combo i use for music. i must say you are 100% wrong about the ak380cu being no match for the chord hugo. the ak380 is on point as sound quality against the chord hugo but on a lower listening level. i place my chord hugo as number 1 audiophile hires component and a very very close second to it is the ak380cu. this review & conclusion is from my personal hands on experience with both hugo & ak380cu paired together and each as a stand alone component distributing music. it really shocked the hell out of me when i bought the ak380cu & heard it for the first time and coming from a regular ak380.
chord hugo is michael jordan & ak380cu is lebron james. every person on earth in life has a shadow.

I just heard Dap vs Dap today, the Cu is lusher and more liquid sounding. The RWAK is harder edge sounding.

Both improves on the stock...

so which upgrade is more worthy for a significant difference in sound quality, amplification/Vol. Drive & clarity as a whole package?

1. RWA-AK380cu plus ak380cu amp
2. AK380cu plus AK380cu amp
3. AK380cu plus RWA-AK380cu amp
4. RWA-AK380cu plus RWA-AK380cu amp

is RWA upgrades a wise & highly recommended upgrade from the AK380cu & AK380cu amp?

Something terrible just happened, my unit is perpetually stuck in balanced mode with the BAL icon forever showing up top at the status bar, and as a result no iems with 3.5mm cable can be played, only the 2.5mm works. The 380 auto detects what's plugged into it by default so there's no toggle like the previous generation AKs, so I'm helpless and can only play songs balanced. I have rebooted numerous times, switch the amp on and off to try to make it go back to normal but it's just forever there. It does not seem like a hardware problem because my 380 works fine optical out to Mojo, so the port works ... physically and partially. But the inexplicable thing is that I've been on firmware 1.24 for weeks now and this only happened just now, so what is happening?

Maybe this could solve your problem; try to install the older firmware and re-install the new firmware again, I hope you get it working correctly.

The problem is that you can't flash the firmware to an older version without sending it back to AK, since the update is automatic.

I would just get the combo first, then send it in for the mods later if you are not happy with the sound.

p.s. I am still quite surprised that no one talks about the AK380 Black combo yet in term of sound
