Mmm....it happened just once, under firmware 1.24. Hopefully, iRiver resolves this issue for you. I understand your frustration.

They have received my message, but have yet to come back to me. The timing of your 'stuck in balanced forever' moment suggests that perhaps it is a glitch of 1.24 that sporadically and inconsistently comes up for random AK380/380cu users? Although this could be hardware related in the form of the internal switch in the 3.5mm jack not working, it seems unlikely that this (or bad contact while we're at it) would happen to four (at least) different users within a short period. The common thing tying all of us together is firmware 1.24, so that's the prime suspect to me @@

Will trade for the new toy if it really bests AK380Cu. So far none can. AK380 Cu is simply the best. The best of the best of the best.

That's not an escuse,the guy has a problem with his player and for the price he paid they should offer support 24/7.

Agreed. 24/7 is a bit much for any company.

for the price of the player every buyer should receive a red hotline button.  any problem...hit the button and should be guaranteed a service rep at your door within the hour.  And by service rep I am thinking along the lines of the Carlsberg adverts.  :)

  Despite iRiver's poor service, there is no doubt that AK380Cu is the best DAP to date. 


Apparently everyone doesn't receive the same level of service. My recent experience was very positive and handled quickly.  Sent the receipt to Jimmy Moon, the unit to their repair center, and received it back in about a week.  I was very impressed.
