Mine gets hot. I play a lot of DSD or WAV files. I'd also like to know if there is any way to get it to play Tidal properly. It doesn't matter if it's through my phone, wifi network (very fast) etc... Tidal just starts and then stops quickly. Just doesn't work. Thoughts anyone? Thanks.

Try logging out and logging back into Tidal. Happens to me every once in a while on my Android smartphone That usually fixes the issue. It's what was suggested to me by one of the Tidal reps

I have the standard version with firmware 1.4. Tidal never had any issues. What firmware are you on?

Ok, my Tidal says 1.42. I guess I have a couple of Apps that original owner didn't remove like MOOV and another I haven't used. How do I remove these? Sorry, but new to the DAP world lol. I need to remove and install Tidal too, so that would be part of this question also. Thanks. Trying

Are you sure?

1.42 is the latest firmware version for the player, not for Tidal.


Look here instead ———> Store/Tidal/settings. You’ll then see the version at the bottom of the page.

Also you can’t remove the tidal app.

I will log in and then out of TiDAL as Jason told me to do.

Groovers and MOOV are both streaming services in Asia and are part installed by default on Astell&Kern players along with TIDAL. These apps cannot be uninstalled, removed or manually reinstalled as they are part of the player firmware. These apps are updated regularly as part of player firmware updates.

What kind of music do you mostly listen to? What headphones or IEM"s will you use most of the time? Do you like warm, neutral music or do you need VERY extended highs with tons of sparkle? I personally went with a used 380cu and matching amp. That's me. I'm a 2 channel guys who needs a true reference sound. Spent some time in studios as a kid and that's what I always strive for. Many on these forums wants 'extended' highs that have tons of 'sparkle'. The 1000 to ME wasn't as 'musical' (all these quotes are terms that are used very lightly) as the 380 CU series. I personally don't love the 380 no copper. Again, we all hear differently and anyone who TELLS you what you should get is basing it on what they purchased most of the time, or what they think they want to purchase.

Y0ou really need to answer these questions to narrow it down. Many on these forums are better than the 2 channel ones in that they can tell you the sound differences. I shared what I think the differences are between the units (in general terms). My mentor, Nic (he reviews for a few sites) shared his thoughts when I was getting started and he was dead on. I stayed away from the top Sony/modified as it didn't stream Tidal. That was the major thing I wanted in a top DAP.

What IEMs are you using. I feel AK380 is pretty much endgame. If you don’t have a TOTL IEM, might save the money on the DAP and invest it in the IEM. The AK380 -> WEstone ES60 gives me this out-of-the-head listening which I have only experienced with Sennheiser HE1. My desktop setup hasn’t really duplicated it with HE1000 v2 and McIntosh MHA100. If you are trying to drive full size cans, I guess you could go for the SP1000, but then I would just get the PEF11 amp module.

I"m now actually thinking about getting the Sp1000cu and selling both my ak380cu and matching cu amp with the two leather covers. I think the 1000 will be a bit better match with my new Phantom CIEM's. Just something my 'mentor' and I spoke about the other day.

Hi guys, I just got a ak380 amp, I tried to connect it with my ak380, but it doesn’t have any reaction, I can charge the combo together but there is no “amp” button on my screen...
anyone has any ideas?
