Yes, it is 'true balanced' in that the L & R channels have their own + & - connections.

Sorry what I mean is it's not a pure line out. You are still going through AK380's internal amp so double amping.

I´ve been using a Sandisk 256 GB with my AK380 and I´ve never had any kind of problems. Now I´ve replaced it by a 400 GB just to have more storage capacity. I formatted both of them with the computer and using FAT32. I´ve noticed that exFat format creates problems to some DAPs, specially old ones, so I don´t use that format anymore.

Good tip this.

I reformatted my 400gb card in Fat32, since then the intitial scan on start up is much quicker & the playlists load in 30 secs as opposed to 1 minute.

I had a chance to audition Sennheiser HE1 this weekend. The AK380 for a portable setup renders music in a way that’s similar to HE1. The amount of sound stage depth and width is just awesome. Everything stays very well separated and punchy. I continues to be impressed with it.

Emailed support to get a quote for a battery (part only) and no response...

Is their post warranty support usually bad?

They are refusing to sell me the part and are insisting on me sending the unit to their service center. Did anyone note down the battery part number when opening their unit?

Nvm found it PR-754680N

Hello. I have recently purchased an AK380Cu as an upgrade to my AK320 Meteoric Titan. I would like to know if it's normal for the AK380Cu to warm up after 1-2 minutes of playing. I have placed both devices next to one another, playing DSD files until the battery was drained. The AK320 stayed cool for the whole duration (around 6-7 hours), but the AK380Cu warmed up as mentioned above. It remained at the same warm temperature for the whole duration.

I wanted to know if the Copper causes this or if it's just a processor/battery problem. The AK380Cu also takes 2-3 sec after pressing the Play button to start, whereas the AK320 starts instantly.
My concern is that if the device gets warm on its own, it gets hot pretty quickly with the amp + a case. Never had this issue with the AK320 +amp + case, not even in summer.
I'm thinking of going for a RMA. Based on the information on the EU website, they will offer me two options: a repair or a replacement. The replacement will be either a refurbished, serviced or new one depending on their judgement. Has anyone sent the item back and opted for a replacement? Is it a good option?

Don't worry - i own also both DAPs. The AK380Cu plays native DSD files and therefore gets hot - the AK320 plays DSD over PCM.
When you play normal files on AK380Cu it will also stay cool. The CPU of AK38Cu ist equal to AK320 - playing native DSD is resulting in maximum CPU load.

I never formatted either Sandisk 256 used in my 380 and start up is always pretty immediate.

Mine gets hot. I play a lot of DSD or WAV files. I'd also like to know if there is any way to get it to play Tidal properly. It doesn't matter if it's through my phone, wifi network (very fast) etc... Tidal just starts and then stops quickly. Just doesn't work. Thoughts anyone? Thanks.

I have the standard version with firmware 1.4. Tidal never had any issues. What firmware are you on?
