Any one else having issues with the capacitive touch on their AK380 Copper? Mine barely registers, I have to press hard or keep pressing it for it to work.

It's not limited to Cu. It's not even limited to the 380. Perhaps it's a YMMV kind of deal...

I love the sound of it but for 4K I expected everything to work perfectly. Ugh!

This is what mine does... capacitive touch not working consistently. Is this considered faulty?

I get that from time to time too. For mine, it works almost flawlessly with the case...other times, I just long press the black semi-translucent bar on the upper part of the screen (the one that tells you the current track number our of how many songs you're currently playing) and it takes you back to that home screen, just like what pressing the capacitive button does except this works all the time.

But I agree for a DAP costing this much, I too expect this to work perfectly. Thank God for the sound

I currently own an AK300 and have spent sometime with the 380CU, both of them act up from time to time.
as etteoh mentioned and for me it works best with the case on. It must be a texural thing.

Need some advice, unfortunately, mine doesn't work consistently at all... I reached out to Astell&Kern (very responsive) and they suggest shipping it to them but I'm wondering is it just better to have the dealer (had it for two days) replace my unit and let them deal with replacing the faulty unit with Astell&Kern.

I'm not sure how things work where you're at but over here, I would go back to the dealer and get a 1-to-1 exchange. It is after all only a 2-day old unit.

Just got word Astell&Kern about to release new products in a couple weeks, possibly a stainless steel version for AK380. I'd rather have steel over copper any day.

No, I bet it will be an upgraded version of the AK500n.

My wish list for the successor to the AK500n :
    - A better DAC using at least the AK380's chips instead of the AK240's chips or even better: real "desktop's DAC chips".
    - A much stronger and better headphone amp (not a DAP Amp) taking advantage of the extra space and power available.
    - USB audio Out.
    - ROON compatible ?
    - and... a handle to carry it around the house
