Why do you say is inexcusable? ...my iPhone is an extreme pain with unintended touches, my Hidy was a pain...Any DAP (device) I had with touch screen did the same. That's just how "Touch Screen" works. Anything that is conductive can activate the screen. Have you heard about "booty call"?
Never happened with ANY other device before (a dozen at least ) aside from an older Android phone where the issue was fixed by a software update.

They just need to set the screen sensitivity just a touch lower to prevent this to happen. Will they do it? Who knows? Is their software testing before lunch at the same level of a cheap Chinese phone? Yes it is.

I have this issue with the Hiby R6 so i just enabled the lock screen that requires a swipe rather than a tap and it has been a non issue since then.

Sony I dont have this issue at all.

So it's a feature that you should turn on for desktop use and off when you're out and about? Are you being serious mate? Do you do that with your phone? How come with HiBy and iBasso devices it works perfectly without self activating i your pocket?
I understand you love your SP3000 and thee are many god reasons too, but this is plain inexcusable: just doesn't work as it should.
That feature doesn't work as it should. Hopefully they can make it better (it obviously works). Is the sound good enough to wait for that fix?

I hope they can decrease the sensitivity, but I did turn off the “double tap to wake” feature and now I’m enjoying the player more. Having to press that beautiful crown/volume wheel is fine, leading to less fiddling with the player! Onward and upward to more enjoyment of what really matters: the sound!

I don’t put my giant dap in my pocket, a non issue for me. I lived with my previous AK without double tap, so, for me again a non issue. I think this is being made a big deal when it’s really is not, imho.

You're missing the point, mate: if AK implements a feature, they should test it before shipping it. Thay have not. At least not enough.

If it's not a big deal for you, because you don't use it, it doesn't mean that it can't be for someone else. Like me.

It's very simple: if you can't implement it properly (on your TOTL player!!!), just don't include it. For some people like me it's an important feature that has been part of my decisional process.

Having had or tried most of them mate, DX320 and RS8 are no slouch at all, even compared to the SP3000 (which I own)

In the meantime ibasso has updated all its newer players to a newer version of android and HiBy releases new firmwares every two months, polishing the system and adding great functionality.

If it wasn’t a massive cash loss involved I would really be tempted to sell my brick.

Lol... Did you ever check the iBasso DX300 & DX320 threads? A lot of people complaining even more than you here. Owning both of the iBasso I'm pretty happy with the performance of the SP3000.

iBasso has battery problem and sound of the device change with every new update.

What battery problem ? Different battery with different capacity on a different circuits will drain differently, it is just logic. So amplifier battery drains faster or slower depend on the design of the amplifier, the same as digital battery. Both the dx300/320 is essentially a stack of amplifier+battery hosted inside one metal chassis of Digital DAC+battery, so they are drained in different conditions. I have both of them for a while, never seen such issues

firmware updates that changes sound signature happens on all devices, nothing is immune

Hi all and @JasonNYC , I have the SP2000 and SP3000. I adore both. I just noticed after numerous cable swaps, and A/B tests. The 2.5mm balanced has a different sound signature when compared the 4.4mm balanced on the sp3000. I have tested it every which way. Apples to apples cables and adapters, etc... I notice 2.5mm is a little more in the clarity. While 4.4mm sounds a little subdued. Can you guys please check and would love your insights on this. Perhaps it is by design? Thank you!

I love my iBasso and you never saw me commenting anything bad about them, I even was called IBasso fanboy in the DX320 thread couples months ago, but "the point here" is you can see more people complain about the ibasso there that the SP3000 here, and my comment was in relation of Damascato experience from one device over the other.

I think what is lost a lot is that AK over the years in previous iterations, have provided a good fair of good updates. I recently sold my SP1000 but up to a few months ago, they were still supporting that model with updates and I’ve had that model since 2017.
AK does listen, they do take end user comments seriously and if possible they do provide updates based on feedback.
Be patient, Jason is our sound piece for us, I’m sure he has already submitted the complaints about what’s left on this forum thread. Maybe just maybe you will get what you want, but regurgitating the same thing over and over again, have patience, everyone today is about instant gratification.

Couldn’t the adapter be having some impact on the sound? Are you using a 2.5mm to 4.4mm adapter or vice versa?

I plan on listening this weekend, and I’ll see if I hear anything

I’ll try and make time while watching football this weekend, and see if I can net the same results you have.

I totally agree with this, and @JasonNYC does listen, and I’m sure he will make sure these suggestions and concerns brought up here get into the proper minds/hands for fixing.

I have not had problems with the DAP’s screen activating itself in my pocket. I have the double tap feature enabled.
