Superb sound! But with my Stellia, I still need to pair my SP3000 with the C9 (pre amp, phone out) for maximum potential.
I sold my N8ii to help finance my SP3K purchase. The main competitor of the SP3K is definitely the N8ii, the Shanling reaction with a N9 will be very interesting...
So weird, I plugged my expanse to the 4.4 output and for some reason I could not hear ANY sound coming out of it. Thought that there was something wrong with the cans or the cable but they actually work perfectly plugged into my desktop amp.... any advice mate?
Just like me, i sold my N8ii too for SP3. But i loved the Tubesound from the N8ii. Nevertheless the SP3 is another step in the audioheaven and the design is so much better.I sold my N8ii to help finance my SP3K purchase.
It seems I was one of the very few people who were never quite enamoured with the N8ii.
I haven't actually seen a fully packaged retail SP3000 yet. The boxes were not ready before CanJam SoCal, so we just received the players outside of the box. They all were wrapped in protective plastic to protect the finish. I assume the retail boxed ones are also. Waiting for confirmation. They are meant to be removed, but can be left on to protect the player if you wish. It will not affect the operation of the player.Just received my SP3K...excited to get it setup.
Kinda curious, it appears there is already a set of protectors, screen etc. installed. Case anyone validate that?

The feature has been requested, but there are no plans to add the option at the moment. I will pass this on again to the software team for consideration.I want to know if AK plans to add the basic functionality of disabling the playback buttons when the screen is off, I’m a heavy pocket DAP user and that’s a huge issue for me at the moment. I have to be very careful when handling it or I’ll interfere with my playback.

Happened to me with a 4.4 cable when I was demoing the SP3000 back in August. The issue was I did not push the plug in fully. I am sure you already tried that, but I would recommend trying it again. So weird, I plugged my expanse to the 4.4 output and for some reason I could not hear ANY sound coming out of it. Thought that there was something wrong with the cans or the cable but they actually work perfectly plugged into my desktop amp.... any advice mate?

How does it sound as compared to your killer desktop system and have you run it with any headphones? After spending a couples of days with SP3000 the thing that standout for me is the build quality is premium as expected, they feel substansial in your hand and the size is just right, not too big or too thick, they really a very good looking DAP. As for the sound, i'm not really good at describing how things sound, but early impression I can say maybe they will not wow you at first listen, but you will appreciate more as you keep on listening, they definitely sound like how TOTL DAPs should be, top class technical ability, details, imaging and soundstage, but still fun and musical.
And other things that I like about SP3000 is they barely warm even after playing for hours.
Yep, I see this almost every time I change track or album with qobuz, also happens on my Cube but with both players the next selection plays anyway. It seems like the message should only display if there is no internet connection and you haven’t already downloaded for offline useIs anyone else getting this error message? Every time when I press the power button to turn on the screen while playing Qobuz in offline mode?
I think AK should be congratulated for including ARC so quickly. I believe bit perfect is a roon issue. They are working on it. Boot on my unit is below a minute.I think there is no improvement with the new firmware update 1.08 in boot time, still by 1:45 minutes. Roon ARC doesn’t work bit perfect, too. What kind of firmware update is this???
Its not a fair comparison, but for portable player SP3000 is great if you're into laidback sound with top technical capability. How does it sound as compared to your killer desktop system and have you run it with any headphones?
