What I would like Manufacturers using Bluetooth technology to do in their own products before shipping

-Support the right Codec for the right job, or if its still confusing just put
SBC, LDAC, AptX-Adaptive and aptx HD and LE audio(LC3/LC3+) onto their devices that way its
Covering bluetooth for the next few years.
-Place a Codec button switch on their devices this is for BOTH ends, not just the transmitters
but also the Receivers- Example if Bluetooth headphones had a Codec switch button they could
press and flick between aptx HD (for music) and then press the button again for aptx Adaptive (Gaming/TV)
same example a button switch on the headphones, 1 for LC3(music) and press again switches to LC3+(gaming/movies).
Or put the above feature in the app or software on PC and Mobile phone but a button is easier and faster.
-Add the same Codec button switch on their USB BT dongles and Transmitters and Receivers, you should be able to cycle through the BT codecs
since the software/driver cannot understand if you wish to listen to music or play games afterall.
-Use Bluetooth 5.3 latest standard, stop using Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.2 its out dated and not as good as 5.3.
-Fix your Bluetooth antennas on your devices (both transmitters and receivers side) I tried
a pair of £700 Bluetooth headphones (B&W PX8) and it had terrible performance compared to a £50 Creative Zen headphones.

Any other suggestions, mention them and ill try to update the list.

But USB 3 definitely breaks it, it's a well-known 2.4 GHz interference issue.

Unfortunately, this is impossible with the current standards.

Nice, updated list what a nightmare usb 3 ports were, had similar issues with my usb c port.

I wasn't even surprised when I connected my Creative X5 to a 20 year old PC that belongs in a skip, worked with the least amount of BT issues. I heard those ifi purifier usb
filters can help but also reduce sound quality.

That is a shame if they can't do that codec button both ends, but maybe if there was a app option via the mobile phone so you could switch at least between music and lower latency gamer/movie mode like you can via Windows creative app may work around it somewhat.

I guess this is why aptx adaptive got the best of both worlds, I still wonder if they purposely did not make the latency better due to a drop in audio quality since they had it better with aptx LL.

Even simple USB 2 extension cable might help. And no, it shouldn't alter sound quality in any way, unless it breaks USB spec.

There's a hacky solution (button press will disable all codecs except selected and force reconnection), but it's not going to work well some cases (i.e. Android caches codecs).

Xiaomi does that. Same could be implemented via an app.
My phone seems to have "acu" app from Qualcomm (opens only via Activity Launcher), which also does the same thing:

aptX Adaptive also selects LL/HQ modes depending on the currently opened app.

Were there ever Android devices with aptX LL? Android wasn't really optimized for latency.
aptX Adaptive can do ~72 ms, which is definitely more than good enough.
With LE Audio it's possible to achieve better results, but can anyone hear the difference?

Has anyone tried using the Creative USB-C dongles on the iPhone 15 yet? I would love to see that bring APTX HD or LL to the iPhone via this workaround

The Creative BT-W5 (AptX Adaptive) works fine on my iPhone 15 Pro. There isn't an app though so you have to choose LL or HQ using the PC or Mac app. Fortunately, it saves the setting internally...

I have the Beoplay H9 3rd gen headphones which looks like it supports aptx-LL. Would a dongle with aptx adaptive work with these headphones or do I have to purchase one with aptx-LL codec?
If the dongle supports aptX LL you will get aptX LL.

aptX adaptive has its own HQ and LL mode but falls back to aptX not aptX HD or aptX LL for non aptX Adaptive devices.

Also check my signature for BT adapters and reviews here, I believe off top of my head the Creative BT-W3 and similar to that one may do aptx-LL support, worth researching Creative site to find the right one.

That's good to hear. But just to be clear, If I would pair the BT-W5 (that also supports APTX-HD, led indicator gold) with my T+A Solitaire T (that *only* supports APTX-HD), could I then expect the connection to default to APTX-HD? I am forced to migrate from Android to iPhone and I would want to somehow stick to APTX-HD here 😇😜

I'm afraid I'm not sure. I haven't used AptX HD and I don't have your device to verify. I could test AptX HD on another device if that would help?

Perhaps that would help, many thanks!!!

My fear is that somehow even though both the BT-W5 (or BT-W3X) and the Solitaire T have both codecs (regular AptX and APTX-HD), in the end they'd somehow default to regular AptX. That would more or less defeat the purpose 😉

Is there any preference in terms of SQ between the BT-W5 and the BT-W3X?
