Right now it's all about the price wars, more expensive the better (no, just no). The Tera Player set the original benchmark at $1300, then it was $2200, so A&K came out with the 240 at what is it? $2.8k? Now the 480 is out again at $4.9k. Then next year we can expect to see a 960 at $8k, then the AK1920 will be $11-12k. I feel sorry for people who not know what they are buying something that isn't remotely close to what it values at, but hey there money not mine.

  I think I'll wait until next year for the AK960. Seriously though, the specs look amazing. Not a fan of the looks - but since I will never buy it, I guess that isn't really for me to decide.
 
Also, if that screen is 5.5", the player is going to be absolutely massive (not in the popularity sense, since that's limited to 500).

Was thinking the same thing at the start. But given the trend of these so called "portable DAP's" are priced at lately, I'm not surprised one bit if this is real.

  I was lucky enough to get a preview listen to this unit while I was in LA at the Iriver offices, and I have to say, I would never have believed that any portable could sound more refined than the AK240, which I though was already better than what I thought possible from a DAP.
