I applied some light mink oil to protect the leather...and usually how long can this headpad last?

Talking about the headband or the pads that rest on the ear? The headband is known to get gunky, and it's not real leather.

Can't say I experienced this when I had a pair of 880's..
You sure you didn't spill something on the headband by accident, or had gel in your hair and put them on?

The headband on my DT880 edition is sticky, too. Please let me know if the isopropanol treatment worked for you.

I get this problem every so often. I use hair gel, and some of this gets on the headband and makes it sticky. All I do is wash it off with plain old water. Really, you aren't going to hurt it.

But I never use hairgel. And before comments might imply something else: I'm washing my hair every day

It is a known issue with beyer premium headbands.  You can replace it with the beyer pro clip on headband.  Read the threads below.
