100X on the addictive nature of head-fi... even up-coming exams can't keep me away for long...
Bangpod: sorry for the shock u must've felt when u realized both the k1000 and PS-1 (as well as some other awesome headphones such as the L3000 & R10) being discontinued already though... that's kindda why i'm thinkin about adopting the new policy: "if you can afford it, BUY IT! think later" approach to equipments

think about how disappointed i was when the r10 was discontinued.
and i was 1 minute behind edwood for the cheapest pair of r10's ever sold...

if i do not get the headphiled he60, i might just cry...
but then i will buy an omega2 and it will be bittersweet...

a little off topic, but what do you think i should get for an electrostatic amp?
my source was $2500, so i do not want to spend more than that...

my options are:

headamp kgss: bias, silver wiring, blackgates
headamp blue hawaii: nothing extra
rudistor egmont classic
mcalister ea-6
wooaudio GES

what do you guys think?

and with a modwright 999es, what interconnects and power chords should i get?

If you can stretch your budget, you may want to look into a Singlepower Es-1. I know AK[zip] has one for sale HERE

...anyway, seems like there just wasnt enough market for earspeaker type headphones. It has been pretty much replaced by AKG K-701, their new flagship and about direct competitor to Beyerdynamic DT-880.

I thought PS-1 was supposed to be limited special-run all the time?

GS1000 is sort of "orpheus/r10/whatever" of Grado, their most expensive so-called flagship. No personal experience, but sonically its quite different from other Grados or so they say. It isnt as hyperactive and aggressive headbanger as Grados tend to be. Frequency response is very V-styled and spiky, recommended for silent listening. And they also have soundstage (!!!), probaply because of new HUMONGOUS pads, known as "Bagels" or "Superbowls" around here.
