Oh yeah, with the leathers on, the DT990 didn't sound good at all. The velours fixed that.
I also got a pair of those jersey pads, same as on the DT440/860, and they sounded about the same as the velours.

Pleeeease try the velours sometime soon. :)

Well...

I will try it, but I LOVE the way they sound with the leathers! An enigma. I worry that with the velours I will lose bass impact, and I do love bass impact...

Skylab,

those dt990's are the exact same as the ones that I was thinking of buying off of the manufaktur site. Looks good, and apparently sounds good too......I had almost talked myself out of them

Well, I will have much more detail on this later in a separate thread, but the basics are that compared to the 2003 DT990, the 2006 DT990 has a less recessed and more pleasing midrange, more lower midrange warmth, and a less dry and smoother treble response.

It's REALLY a great headphone. REALLY great.

I'm about to order a pair of DT990 600 Ohm cans, can anyone please tell me if the Manufaktur ones are the same as the regular ones or not?

If they are the same I will personalize my headphones and order Manufaktur ones but if the regular ones that sell for a tad more on their website are better at all, then I would go for the regular ones.

Thanks.
