and the tegra zone in the android market will be filled with cool games you won't be able to play with a single-core cpu

That's highly debetable, it will almost certainly take months before the first apps to take advantage of dual core processors appear, and you can forget about games "you won't be able to play with a single-core cpu" appearing until at least the iphone 5 gets released. If you want to play games, go get a 3DS or wait for a NGP.

Yeah, right! http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=221202  Samurai II was just the beginning - that's why it's called TEGRA zone - they won't be playable on single-core android phones because of stupid marketing strategieshttp://www.nvidia.com/object/tegra-zone.html . So, very soon there will be a lot of games, which can be played on an old single-core ipod touch and iphone but not on single-core androids. And yeah, the NGP will be awesome for games coz gaming is way better with real analog-sticks and buttons and not some stupid touch ones (besides G-sensor based games).
edit: Oh, and that's why I mentioned the two versions of galaxy s2 - coz probably even though the orion chipset is faster only the tegra versions will be compatible with those games. I hope that someone will find a way to crack them but till then that's how it is. I also heard that the playstation games which will be made for the Sony Ericsson Play will also be compatible only with Tegra-based android phones.

i comprared now: Samsung galaxy S vs. Cowon S9 vs. Nexus One
all paired with Earsonics SM3 ..

best SQ and overall exprience i got with the samsung galaxy s:
+ better instrument separation
+ better bass, the bass feel more rounder and deeper
+ realy smooth mids and trables
+ overall sq is mutch more enjoybale and live than the other two
+ no hiss! with s9 and nexus i can hear a hiss
+ excellent balance, with the s9 and nexus the left piece feel a little bit stronger

i must say the whole experience really convinced me to buy a better source than the Cowon S9 ..

if i rate the 3 by SQ this will be my choice:
1. Samsung galaxy S
2. Cowon S9
3. Nexus One

I recently purchased the HTC Thunderbolt. While it is a great phone, the music player is pretty awful. I am considering going back and returning it for either the Galaxy S (and putting Voodoo sound on it) or the iPhone. I would much rather stay with android, but I haven't done any type of rooting before, how hard is it to put Voodoo on it. Also, does anyone have an estimate of the battery life for either of these. The HTC is pretty bad if I try to listen to music for an extended period.

Well, if you don't use background sync and stuff the galaxy s lasts pretty long - I've used it for burning-in headphones overnight, so I get at least 13 hours of music playback at max level of the volume. Also, Voodoo doesn't need root - you can flash it with odin - the whole flashing operation takes like 10 seconds but it takes like 5-10 minutes of waiting (depending on how many apps and stuff you have) after that for the voodoo lagfix to change the file system. After that whenever an update for Voodoo is out it will take only 10 sec to do it. Overall, it's super easy and with voodoo the phone gets super fast and with super sq!

is the galaxy s using voodoo sound or is it stock?

Hmm, that's strange - the galaxy s with stock is way better than Nexus One but I didn't find it better than the cowon. But maybe coz I haven't heard the galaxy s with the latest stock froyo.

Thanks for the input on the battery life. I am still undecided on whether I want to switch phones or not, I guess i've got about another week to decide. I am relatively new to hi-fi audio. I have a pair of HD25-1 II headphones that I am using. I notice that the sound I get out of my computer seems to get alot louder and is much fuller than it is from the phone (I use flac files on both). Will there be a noticeable enough difference going to the Samsung where it would be worth switching?

Also, I am considering buying a pair of iem's to go with the phone. I was looking at the RE-0 or the Hippo VB both which seem to get good reviews.

LTE probably won't be in my area before I am eligible for another upgrade (I kind of live in the middle of nowhere) so that really isn't that big of a concern for me.

if you do plan on switching I suggest waiting because in a couple of months the galaxy s 2 will come out and thats going to be soo much better than the galaxy right now.

Well, I have Samsung Galaxy S and I find it little better sounding than the Iphone 4 - or at least as good. Of course, htc aria sounds bad all htcs sound bad and it's not very fair to compare a low-end android phone to iphone with regard to any kind of quality comparison.

But are all HTC's bad, how about the new Desire HD, The HTC Mozart or even the new HD7
