Android phones and USB DACs

So I have a Pixel XL and I got my FiiO E18 Kunlun working using this setup:

USB A to USB microB cable
The OTG adapter in the box -- connect the USB A end into the adapter and then into the phone, the USB microB end into the Kunlun

In developer options, set the USB option to MIDI (or in the notification bar, set the USB option to MIDI there) -- for some reason, the "audio source" option didn't work for me.

Any thoughts on wheather this would be a good DAC or not?

I just got a FiiO Q1...gosh, finally! It works like a charm. My LG G4 has horrid sound hardware and now it actually sounds somewhat decent with wired headphones. This little guy is amazing. For less than 70 USD you get a portable USB DAC/AMP that works with Android phones, has decent SQ, AWESOME battery life and solid build quality. AND the price might be just unbeatable.

What dacs are everyone using now? I have an iBasso D14, but I may sell it.

I'm debating whether to get an iFi IDSD.

I'd like something versatile because I change headphones a great deal.

S5 UAPP into a mytek brooklyn. ..

Wicked! If you could attach a powered hub on the OTG cable and plug in your DAC and an external drive w/ your music in it, would be more awesome.

I am whoring better power...Balanced Isolation transformer. DC offset filter.. linear power supply.. Ampside.. Isoplug filter...

UAAP OTG.. Ifi defender with Clean 5v off battery..Ifi ipurifier 2 into an Intona reclocker... I got caught up with some guys on CA lifting GND and the usb shield... Some big gains... but fun experiments..

I get all the music I need off the S5 but will look into Ethernet L2S nas next year.. I spent so much... But this thread is top notch. So thank you Mikey

Have a good one and will try the hub drive....

Cheers
Dave

Was convinced that Android thru UAPP sounded better than my PC w/ JRiver MC 22.

Here is my setup if you are interested later:

Android TV Box w/ built in HD (Himedia Q10 Pro). Fed to a Jays/Audiophonics LPS.

LH Labs Revive USB purifier/reclocker connected to its USB port. From that an LH Labs Geek Pulse Infinity + LPS.

What the heck is the Himedia Q10? And there seemed to be more than 1 version of it on Amazon. (currently using a similar set up to your old set up, PC/JRiver 22/Geek Out Special Edition v1/revive/MicroZOTL2,Liquid Carbon, or Koss ESP 950. Is this better sounding?)
