Great write up - a good insight into the maker of the headphones. Inspired me to buy some

Zanth, we appreciate your interviewing, and John's openness about his business, more than you can imagine. I for one was surprised that my HF-1s have completely new drivers!

nice summary of your convo with john, zanth.

i do think it's quite fantastic what john did with the hf-1...to support the site is one thing (it's quite easy to give money, for example)...but to let its patrons also benefit by producing a new line of headphones. that's cool.

Great stuff. That's awesome that the HF1 uses a new driver design - of course this is no big surprise to those of use who have been enjoying the hell out of them since the first shipment. They really do have a unique, beautiful sound and I'm greatful to John for releasing it at such a low price - on top of that, the $25 donation is icing!

The liquid, dynamic, bass-y sound of the HF1 reminds me of what people have said of the PS1's, though I've not heard those yet

Man, a year ago I'd be quite surprised to learn that I now shun Sennheisers in favor of AT's and Grados (plus a little K340 action on the side)
