Received my AMP8EX-FE early yesterday morning!

Had a quick listen with my Beyer T5-P’s (2nd gen) and 4.4 balanced Custom Cans cable before heading off to earn a living.

Sounded pretty good straight out of the box...but I know from past experiences with both AMP5 and AMP8, and also AMP1 Mk II, that a good burn in period will reap rewards...looking forward to the journey

The Amp8EX alone can not squeeze out enough Bass and trebles Details and extensions as much as the main body EX upgraded. The DX220 was designed with modular design, and so the Main body is the Sources and the Amp8 is an amp. Just like any high-end system, if your sources is not up to par, then the amp can only do as much. But needless to say, if you have the Main body Dx220EX, then the experiences of the whole combination is going to be Elevated into another notch yet again!. To me, the Dx220EX is very important, a must

I had a quick listen at 8h burn-in can tell the device still has a long way to go.

but quick listen and wow. I love the amp9 but my quick swap leads me to believe this is smoother and may be even bigger sound stage.

I know this is different to amp9 but do other prefer it ?

depends pair with what... & sound sig u prefer...

for me, Z1r is better with AMP9...

if you mean AMP8EX-FE pair to SOLARIS OG, like I mentioned before, Vocal, Instrument & recently I find Soundstage was emphasized in quite good marginal.
Soundstage I mean here is the source pint point, Wide soundstage is common for SOLARIS OG, but wide and DEPTH (3D space Imaging feeling), now that something that AMP8EX-FE give, no need DSD or 24 flac song, even in 16 flac, the pair synergy can done that easily, off course better song file can generate more detail & clarity...

usually the soundstage is wide flat in Horizontal... with AMP8EX-FE, the soundstage become more diagonal (is like from the front right to left behind)...

Got 62 hours. Listened at 1 hour, 11 hours and now jumped to 62 hours.

Lots of width, height and depth as usual using the Andromeda OG.

Lots, oodles of space between the instruments

Musical (dynamic), yet reference.


Some of the best money i spent last year on audio gear. It brings the DX220 to a whole other level.
