Out of the box impression :
- not as bad as AMP8 out of the box.. MUDDY
- Its like AMp1Mk2 with more detail Vocal.
- No midcentric issued, which is Sub bass and spark roll off, with AMP8EX FE all still in place...
- pair with Solaris, Less Hiss then AMp1Mk2 (extra surprises for me).

Ok... so far is above my expectations... its burn in time...

edit : Grand effect appear... wow... its like first time try SP2000CU...
need to do compare that again....

Mine was delivered yesterday mere hours before I was heading out for the holiday. Didn't get a chance to install it and listen 'til late last night. What a memorable holiday gift and well worth the wait.

Haven't heard stock AMP8 but the EX sounds amazing out the box even compared to my AMP9. No distortion and TONS of power. Switched to low gain and 2/3 max volume is more than enough for the Elegia I got on Cyber Monday. My DX150 running Fidelizer 1.15.233 sounds even closer to my desktop setup (for a moment wondered if I wasted funds upgrading it last month).

Does anyone have a problem with the volume knob? Any direction (clockwise or anticlockwise) would just increase the volume.
Didn't happen before I try the AMP8EX. I did make sure I was grounded before I open and replace the amp. I also tried swapping back to the old AMP8 and the volume control still broken.
I was on firmware version 1.13.202, upgraded to 1.15.233 and volume control is still broken. Also tried to "reset all" the device and still broken.
Is there anything else I can try to fix this?

Did you get a chance to try another amp module yet? Same result? Then you probably need to contact Paul to get your DX220 fixed unfortunately...

If it is unique to the AMP8EX then Paul can hopefully get that taken care of as well.

Cheers,
Tim

Yes, I tried the non EX AMP8 and volume control is still broken.
I will try to swap to AMP9 later today, I suspected this has something to do with software volume control with AMP9.

Interesting. I reverted back to 1.13.202 because of issues with the current FW and large drop in output when EQ is turned on. It was a bit of an obstacle course to go back but eventually got it done.

Good luck - hope you find a solution that doesn't involve sending hardware back...

Cheers,
Tim

Got mine today, inserted into DX200TI ... and couldn't find any of my 4,4 cables except aftermarket one for my Fostex TH900-2.
So let the burn in commence!
P.S. Thank you mr. @Whitigir and mr. @Paul - iBasso for making the miracle happen!
