Amp/Dac for Sennheiser HD598
Jan 20, 2015 at 11:24 PM Post #31 of 49
I have the HD 598's and I use to use them with the Schiit Asgard 2 and noticed no difference from other amps and even unamped.

Yes, that sounds quite logical to me, HD598 are really sensitive headphones, so there's no need for a powerful amp at all.
A quite clean signal + an output impedance under 8 Ohm is all you need to get their full potential.

For HD598 I would pick a Fiio E10K and call it day.

Okay my advice to you is to save more money and just get the FiiO E10K and once you've saved up even more buy some better cans such as the HD 600/650 then you can invest in the Schiit Vali and Modi 2/Uber and have straight eargasms everytime you listen. Up to you. For now id just go for the FiiO E10K; besides, it has a built in bass booster

I have the same headphone. How do you guys think the Schiit Fulla will pair with these ?

I think fulla should drive HD598 very well.

Both the Fiio E07k and the E10k work extremely well with the 598's. You COULD spend more money, but don't think you'd hear a difference in them.

I've got a E07k up in the classifieds if your interested.

Should I get this fullof Schiit ($79 USD) for my PC simply because the volume is way to low? It works excellent on my iPod. I do have a pair of Corsair Vengeance 1500 gaming headset for the PC. I don't like the idea of spending more since I already spent $155 for the HD598. I don't want to make these pair of headphones into a $234.00 pair.

If your volume is too low on your PC, then yes. An amp would help. In that price range, either the Schiit Fulla or Fiio E10K.

e17k has spdif coax input is the main practical difference iirc.

The thing you want for an hd 598 is a dac with somewhat high dynamic range, and an amp with no gain and very low output impedance. Fiio e10k is an affordable dac+amp. You can also do an O2 amp customized with 1x gain and like a schiit modi dac. Modi has a little less output than other dacs, and that works in your favor in this case.

I want a portable AMP/DAC, possible from AMAZON (Italy)
