Hello, I know that there are some threads like this but the recommendations weren't really in my price range..

So i'm looking for dac/amp for dt990 600 ohm. Not looking to spend more than 200-250$.

I read that it would be better to get tube amp, but I'm not interested in getting tube-upgrade diseases

I've spotted Zero, Audinst mx-1, Audio-GD NFB-12, Aune etc... but none of them seems to be OK. Zero and Audinst are ugly, NFB-12 has poor amp, Aune needs modifications... is there anything left?

Thanks..

I would suggest the A1 Amp. the amp in the D1 isn't all that good (with the Beyers). Or the NFB12

The amp on the D1 is a bit harsh on the highs, the DAC is nice, but I like to use it as a preamp with the tube output and it brings the MIDs in the beyers very nice... I guess you are familiar with those comments about the DT990s have a U shaped sound signature...

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go for NFB-12, I've read few pages of the big thread and it seems that it will be great for the frequency response of DT's. Yes, I'm aware of the signature.. just what I want, cause I'm tired of EQing every single sound-emitting device...

How about the SPL Auditor? Sorry but I'm a big fan of it now.

Sorry was pretty tired earlier and missed that part >_<.  If you don't need the amp and DAC to be together then I think the PHENIX G3-T7 is another option worth looking into. It's about $160 shipped from China and it's an OTL tube headphone amp. It does a really good job with the DT990's IMO.

He's looking for something between 200 and 250 usd... Auditor is way far from there

It won't drive them perfectly but does a darned good job. If anything I'd say it;s performance is a bit less than that of the Little-Dot.

The Little Dot MK2 can't adequately drive a DT990 600Ω.  I'm skeptical about that Phenix driving it as well.

I used DT990/600 with E9 for many months are that is a killer combo. The guy I sold the DT990 later also purchased the E9 :)

Apogee Duet2 + 990s = crazy delicious! I know ($600) but it's a phenomenal amp and DAC.
