hello all!
i'm still fairly new to this forum, but it's been loads of help to me. i am looking for some cheap headphones, and i've seen the sennheiser hd201 pop up rather frequently in this search query. 
just wondering, is there an alternative to these with more bass? or is this as good as it gets in this price range?

from what I understand, the HD202 is more bass-heavy but not as accurate-sounding.

Yup, the HD202 has more bass. If you just want to go along with the thump and not really care about details and clarity, it's a good first set of cans.

Personally, i am not a huge fan of the HD202 - least in my experience -its quite dull out of the box- despite being bassy., Throw in a fiio e3 pocket amplifier and its a whole different story-  in addition to the bass boost, it somehow seems to, IMO, improve the clarity and liveliness of the sound. I'd also point out, while unfoldable, its a pretty rugged pair so should last you till the next one ;p.
