After reading most of posts I realise that the way I described the issue did not get accross the point I wanted to make well enough. I'm sorry.
The thing that I'm curious about is: are there other headphones out there that people prefer or use as back ups for their sennheiser HD-25 and why? Are there people who are bothered by the lack of soundstage to the extent that they have chosen different headphones? Although people seem to agree that these headphones have great SQ there are few characteristics that may not be for everyone. If that is the case for someone what is their alternative etc.
Also I wanted to mention that I was very pleasantly surprised by the warm and understanging tone of all the responses. Moreover, I really admired how people instead of getting all defensive and protective actually here are very open minded and eager to take chances and explore the less main stream brands that although have less name power may be just as good or even a better bargain. Very refreshing.
Oh and by the way I realised that it was calbe from my amp to phone that was broke so XD-53 are still AWESOME.

Now it's been like 5 months since i bought my last portables (XD-53) and their cable is about to die on me. So out of curiousity I started to look around for an alternatives with replacable cables. And to my surprise I found out that the only closed portable headphones according to this site are the Senn's HD 25 II. Everything else seems to fall into "yeah there are these too but you really should buy HD-25" category.
I'm sure that they are fine headphones (unless you care about soundstage, I had the chance to listen to them and they sound fine and isolation is awesome) but I can't help but feel like these headphones are Head-fi's Beats.
When it comes to open ear headphones there are Grados, AKG, Sennheiser... Sony XB etc. which are all regarded as good headphones that have their strenghts. How come when it comes to portable closed headphones there is only one great choise (except of course headphones like Ultrasone Edition 8 and stuff - im talking about headphones for people who are only partly insane ).
Please prove I am wrong and have no clue what I'm talking about...
P.S. Please don't mention Beyerdynamic DT 1350 (unless you really like them) because then I'll think you are saying that only because you love Jude and want to buy him flowers every day.
