Me and a friend did a little try out last weekend, ALO Rx + Hifiman HE-5 Ortho.
It's a bit crazy, I know.. but it just goes to show that the ALO Rx had what it takes to drive the current hungry HE-5 (which is heavy even by desktop amp standards) with no distortion.

The Rx also drove an AKG K340, although I wasn't there to hear it personally.

That's impressive; now make the HE-5s portable!

The Rx is very impressive. It drives all of my headphones very well, including the DJ1Pro which usually causes portable amps to bottom out and distort after about 60% of the volume. The Rx will take that number to about 95%. I wouldn't use it to realistically replace a full desktop amp, but among portables, it is certain champ.

besides being able to provide power, how did the ALO RX + HE-5 sound like? enjoyable listening experience?

And since it's now "later this week" lol, I can say that the PB1 > ALO Rx for hard to drive headphones like the 701/2s.

Awesome! Let us know of the PB-1 and HE-5 combo!
