AKG K812 Pro

The sound of the AKG K812 PRO is more immediate relative to the more distant HD800. AKG K812 is also slightly fuller sounding and less relaxed in its presentation.
I had both side by side for some years and although both are very good (superlative in some regards) I've gravitated more towards the AKG.

I have been listening to my K812 more than any of my other headphones lately.

K812 with right setup are the booom. All are having their own favorite one. My signal goes through Sonarworks Refererence 4 with Average for K812 and + 1dB Tilt - Dragonfy Red - Teac AI301DA.

I will try different DACs more in future, but that combo gives very decent result for the price + you can amp sub and speakers with Teac at once.. cost effective. Only problem with Teac is a bit sharp mids.. but not the highs : )

I have been listening a lot from my Questyle QP1R and Lotoo Paw Gold Diana lately.

At the headphones as well?

The headphones are almost flat after the Sonarworks treatment, then Dragonfly Red adds a lot of dynamics - tighten up the sound, and last the Teac controls highs and lows pretty good, but mids from the amp are a bit sharp for my taste.. maybe they will soften in time, when it's new one..

They won't, most probably.
Those el cheapo Jamico lytics used by TEAC for reservoir and coupling are by no means up to the task. One has to replace them and some others as well, if one likes to get some decent sound out of this boxes.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a shame that these attractive all included budget systems cannot offer the final quality in the sound as well, which should be the main point in creating audio tools . They could add only few components with some prize and it would be a much more profitable product..

RME-ADI-2 pro + akg k812 = amazing. I’m totally hooked. Can’t believe how inexpensive these cans are. Brilliant.
