Been away from HF for a while... Just ordered some of the 612s. I'm crazy about the 702s.

Great review brookoo. Thanks for it! I am deciding betwen k612, k712, q701 and k701/702. I have a stereo amp pioneer ad 30 k and a reciever yamaha. I think both of them have enough juice to fully drive every of the akgs mentioned above, or am I wrong?
I listen to most every kind of music, so I need a neutral headphones. From the review by brookoo and from the discussion I am ready to buy k612.I just hope the soundstage wont be very much smaller as by other headphones mentioned above.

If you want neutral and natural look at the K612 and also try the K712, K7XX, and K702 65th Anniversary if able. I personally stopped using the K612 after getting the K712. I found the K701, K702, and Q701 sound unnaturally bright and have some funkiness going on in the soundstage.

i listened for anhour, or so to 701,702,712,612 and 812. I decided to buy k612, because of the neutral sound and prise. 812 are the best sounding, 712 are more bass oriented and fuller in all dimensions as 612, but they were burned in and 612 not and I thought they werent as much better as the cost difference - 339 euro against 126.9 euro. I give the 612 a chance to burn in and see, if I will be ready to spend twice the price for 712, or stay with 612, which are more neutral with less bass and not so full, but althoug very good sounding for the money.
701 and 702 are good but not better for me as 612.
I will listen to 612 and write, if my decision was right, or not.

same here, 612 is neutral, 712 is liquid and fuller from hi-bass to mid but a little bit too smooth on treble, easy listening but loss the fidelity a bit, not much.

I plan on buying a pair of k612's this summer but dont really have any amps besides a fiio e6 and a sony multimedia receiver thing. What amps would be recommended under $200 (preferably  closer to 150)? I'd also really like to try a tube amp.

They need more current than voltage - so make sure if you're going tube to get a hybrid (OTL would be out of your budget anyway). Why not try the Schitt Vali, or Little Dot 1+ ? Personally though, for the money you want to spend, I'd be looking at solid state.  That would give you a lot more options.

Check this one out.  Cheaper if you order the kit and build it yourself:

Single ended OTL for slightly over your budget:  http://www.garage1217.com/garage1217_diy_tube_headphone_amplifiers_002.htm

The sony can probably handle them fine
