AKG K702 (The Classic) vs. K612 Pro (The Upstart) – Review and Comparison

AKG K612 Pro. In my opinion the best headphones from AKG and they are really Pro. They have deep natural bass, beautiful highs and fantastic full-fledged mids, without the sharpness in the upper range like the models 7 and 8 series. Before them I had 701, 712, 812, 872. I recently discovered them and am still amazed at how underrated they are and how little has been written about them.
So you think they are indeed better than the others. How do you perceive its sound signature compared to the 701 and 712?

Compared to the K701 the sound is drier, less rich and slightly less detailed. At the same time, there is no listening fatigue as with 701, you can listen for hours. The sound is clear and even, the sound stage seems larger.

Reviving thread. I have the K702 and I've been tempted to try the K612 and decide which to keep and which to let go (or sell). I like the K702 but some times I wish It would be just slightly darker, but the main review here says although the K612 is warmer, is not darker. So, I guess is not exactly what I'm looking for, or is it?
From what i remember the k702 has more details while the k612 pro is more balanced, a better bass response and a better mids.

Thank you. Would you say both are equally bright sounding?

If I may chime in, K612 is not bright but has an overdone highest mid (~6-8k). However, they take EQ very well, remove the excess high mid and add some extra bass below 80Hz and some sparkle at 10-11kHz and they sound mint. Has the widest soundstage of all my cans and is very detailed.

Thank you! I love my 702 for what it is. Ideally for me if the k612 is a bit less shouty and a tiny bit darker, it would be perfect

Given historical audiophile conventions (viz., < 128 Hz bass, 128 - 1024 Hz midrange, > 1024 Hz treble), I identify the 6 - 8 kHz as mid treble. Your critique of the Akuſtiſche und Kino-Geräte®/Harman International K612 is valid nonetheless.
