the problem isn't the inclusion of a mic version (choices are good) - the problem is that finding the non-mic version in Europe/US is hard if not impossible through retailers that reside there.

anyway , let's unstuck ourselves from this whole 'do we need a mic version or not' and let's talk about how sibilant and incoherent the K3 sounds

it's an inside joke skerry - these sound anything but sibilant/incoherent

anyway , stop asking questions and buy these will you ? or don't, go and buy a 30$ iem and stop worrying so much about the sound and how can i sell them etc - you said you have the money so use them , life is too short to fret over these 1st world problems

i mean, it starts to feel like you are trolling us by asking the same questions again and again and again  - you are buying an iem , not a kidney

In Austria and Germany, you can buy both the non-mic version (K3003) and mic version (K3003i) directly from AKG.

since i don't speak German, can you tell me if they ship to other european countries ?

You can click on the tiny flag on top of the page and select your country. I tried a few (UK, Netherlands, ...)  and it seems they limit shipping to the country you select.
Sadly though, Greece isn't on the list of selectable countries.

As you may remember from a few pages back, my K3003i's have developed an issue that I am trying to get repaired.
I am covered under a SquareTrade warranty and they have been great.  They have given me every indication that they will honor the warranty, so no worries there.  I do have to provide them with a repair estimate, though.

The issue has been AKG customer support.  I am trying to get a list of authorized repair centers that can possibly work on K3003i.
The AKG support rep keeps providing places that:

a.  are not authorized or
b. only repair car stereos, stereos, or speakers and
c. insists on only providing locations that are near my zip code even though I have stated several times that I can ship them anywhere in the U.S.

It is getting exhausting and time consuming.

Does anyone here have contact information for a shop that can actually work on these?

If it is not repairable, that is fine too.  SquareTrade will reimburse me for my cost.  But I feel that I need to do the due diligence to try to get them repaired first.

Sorry for the long post.... and thanks for any help!

The K3003

Which is better? The IE800 or SE846?

What type of sound are you looking for?  An easy and fun listen, or a more refined sound with more details?

Here is what I think, to give you an analogy:

The SE846 is like an american car that has a big engine, but cannot take corners well. It is big, bold, and exciting, but not articulate, and has cheap interior and lacks refinement.
Treble extension is very much rolled off compared to the other two, and the tonality is off.  Fingers snapping sounds more like wooden blocks hitting each other.  But, the sound is always agreeable, and fun.

The IE800 is like a nice German car, like a Mercedes luxury sedan. Expensive, luxury, but not a sports car. Yet, you knew that it's not a sports car when you bought it.  It is meant to be refined, and can almost handle like a sports car - almost.
The resolution is less than the K3003, but there is slightly more bass and the vocals are a little more forward.  However, it sometimes sounds veiled compared to the K3003.

The K3003 is like a Porsche 911 turbo. It does everything extremely well, and even more. It is fancy, expensive, and a real sports car that is among the best, but it looks like every other Porsche 911, so people are quick to dismiss it.  It is not an exotic car like a Ferrari (like people with custom IEMs).  People with Ferraris will always think their car is better, but this is not always true.
K3003 has an impressively wide soundstage, is lightning quick when needed, and soft and smooth when the music calls for it.  The resolution is superior to the other two IEMs.  When you first listen to the K3003, you may think the sound is not rich enough, with too much air in the presentation.  But, in reality, it's because almost all other IEMs are extremely coloured, with too much bass, or too much vocals, or any combination of other things to alter the sound.  The K3003 is my favourite of the three, followed by the IE800.  SE846.. to me, is not worth its price.

What type of music is the IE800 suited for? The K3003? I heard that the IE800 lacks bass. Is this true? How about the K3003?
