My advice; if you don't want to spend a fortune and still get reference sound, try the Sennheiser HD 650/HD 600. I have the HD 650 and price aside I'm very, very pleased with it! As far as sound quality goes I'd say they play in the same league as the 334. On the other hand, if you get the K3003, why would you need full size head phones?

Because this is Headfi.

well bro the k3003's are for work and portable use. the full sized cans for home. noise is a bit of an issue where I live so the full sized cans might be closed but thanks for the recommendation. i'll take my time selecting a pair like i have with the earphones. you won't find me buying a gazillion phones always worrying if the latest model is better than what I already own. ;)

I'll contact Oxford Dictionary of English and suggest the following change.

self-deception
* n. [mass noun] the action or practice of allowing oneself to believe that a false or unvalidated feeling, idea, or situation is true: up late said: "you won't find me buying a gazillion phones always worrying if the latest model is better than what I already own".
<DERIVATES> self-deceptive adj.

lol! it's only hard to accept if you already have the condition man. upgraditis is an epidemic around here but some folk are immune. there should be rehab clinics for head-fi'ers who have it bad. hope you can make a full recovery bro. ;)

Hi Audiowood,

Interesting, I was saying the same things to some friends who look surprised that I bought K3003 instead of...(fill in the blanks).
I always use K3003 to analyze and check equipments / rigs / amps / dap due to its rather precise nature (maybe the right word is its versatility).
At least for me.

I always think it is like a dependable tool to measure against. You could say a pocket swiss army of IEMs.

No fancy cable upgrades, no upgrades on stock tips, stick to original reference filter (no filter change).
No coherence issue. Maybe I am lucky to get a good batch.

I also concur that they are chameleon enough so one could detect the sound signature of amps / dap / cables etc.
I agree with James 444 and his comparisons. Very spot on.

They are not suffocating like some CIEMs that make you feel like torture in your ears.
Music comes easy to these ears.

I enjoy changing amps (instead of IEMS) to get good synergy with some particular music that I play.

Currently enjoying TP + RSA SR-71a + AKG 3003.
Sound sublime!

I use the Akg3003 very often as a form of sanity check & a reference tool due to its very balance sound re-production.

The K3003s getting some love recently? That's very odd, and that certainly shows one of the very sad & negative aspects of many members of this community: They are deaf.

May I remind people who may actually start believing the K3003s are any good that the AKGs, in actual fact, suck and that they suck BIG time?

Auditioned the K3003 early this year in singapore and prefer them much much better than my 8A.
Ordered the non remote version and should be coming in a few weeks. Cant wait!

Well Music,

I got mine some time ago and loving every minute of it, along with my beloved PF IX, X and FTG 334.
In fact, many people wonder how I could enjoy AKG and FAD PF IX / X / FTG 334.

They have their own strength, just like any other family.

I'm not sure how possible it is, but if my K3003s don't sell I might just sell my JH13s instead and get the K3003s modded to have removable cables.

At that point the only worry would be making the K3003s comfortable.
