hi all! 1st post here and i yes, i have to admit:
I´M PROUD OWNER OF A VINTAGE AGK K240 (4-600 0hms).

I just love it!
the headband is ripped a bit, it got scratches and the cushions are redesigned by mr punkrock (who really needs toilet paper when you can use sandpaper?)!
i shortened the cable to 1,4m and soldered a small 3.5mm plug (schulz kabel).
i cannot upload pics at the moment, but will follow...
soundwise it´s the best headphone i ever had and i tried a lot. it got punch and also smoothness and bass enough when you want it. best can for rock or classic or electro - tanglejangle and scream!

got a fiio x1 and it slightly works but i would like to get a bit more power to the cans - so i tried it out with my fiio e5, but that lil baby is near to it´s end because of the lifetime of the battery.
there´s a chance to get a fiio e11 kilimajaro for just a few bucks... would the fiio e11 drive the 240 properly?

OK...

I'd like to replace the earpads on my K240 Anniversary Edition.

Are there any online instructions on how to do this?..(It obviously doesn't have the twist off solution of my other AKG's.)
Also, has anyone had success with a cheaper more comfortable pad...if yes, who's?
I'm also interested in adding cushioning to the headband since the cans are over-sized and push down on the top of my ears.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated
Cheers.

If the earpads on the Anniversary Edition are similar to the pads on the Studio (which I have), I'm pretty sure you just pull them out. The pads are stretched over a lip on the earcups.

A friend of mine replaced them with Shure SRH840 pads, and they sound great. Brainwavz HM5 pads and Beyerdynamic velour pads also work.

  Thanks for the reply, TBG.
The overlaping part is either plastic or fake leather...yes?
Does it stretch and spring back easily?

Yes to both counts. The pads on the K240 are your typical stretch-over-the-earcup type of earpad, in contrast to the specialised and often proprietary twist-to-lock earpads that are usually much more expensive. You shouldn't have much trouble taking them off and putting them back on unless you pull the pads with enough force to rip the overlapping part off.

One final question :)

These old cans are too big for my head so they push the top of my ears down.

Is there a cushion pad that will fit K240's headband?
If I can't find one I'm gonna have to glue a piece of foam to it destroying any reselling option in the future.
