$400 JH5 will sound better than W4, SE535, and W3.  I have owned all.  I know another Head-Fier that feels the same and he has owned all.

With the possible exception of TF10, I would NEVER pay to re-shell a universal.  With the invention of comply tips, universals fit as good or even better than customs.

The Westone 4 and JH5 are too different IMO, so it's quite reliant on personal preferences. One is dark and warm, the other is bright and cold.

Comply tips don't fit me and you may also have to change it every month, so here's not to say that re-shelling isn't worth it.

Hey guys, I've been lurking on these forums but I've finally signed up for an account here! I know it's very common to reshell BA IEMs but I'm an owner of FutureSonics Atrios and I wonder if there are any companies out there who do reshells for dynamic drivers. Do any companies actually provide such a service?

Well, most companies only provide re-shelling for Balanced Armatures. Re-shelling a dynamic driver may also change the sound dramatically, could be good or bad. You seem to already have your atrio with custom tips, so I wouldn't suggest re-shelling.

Spot on about the custom tips. Very well, I shall save for full-fledged Ear Monitors then.

custom tips affect the sound as a good cable, not talking about isolation comfort and fit

I did custom tips for my MG7s because I like their signature a lot, and I wanted to nail the fit 100% of the time. It's impossible to talk about how they affect sound without going into isolation and fit, because truth be told, that does affect the sound a lot! Having a bad fit, seal, or insufficiently deep insertion can mean a world of difference in the sound you actually get from a pair of IEMs.

With the Atrio silicone sleeves, getting a good fit is finicky; sometimes it's a matter of 5 seconds, while at other times, it can take up to 5 minutes of fiddling with them in my ears. Now, with the SofterWear Sleeves, I am consistently getting the same seal and same sound from my Atrios.

Comfort-wise, I'm in to week 2 of using them and they seem fine. In week 1, my ears were sore from not being used to customs I guess, but as they collected my ear wax (eww) and as I got used to inserting and removing them, it got better. Now, I know they're there; it's not like they disappear, but I definitely don't feel uncomfortable in any way.

Perhaps if you love the mg7's sound signature and want to go to customs, you can try out the future Sonics mg6pro?

even im brooding over completely re-shelling my se 535s and adding another 2-3 drivers or getting a new after-market cable like the baldur mk2 or toxic cable 6n cryo-treated 99.99999% pure silver cable...
the catch is that the toxic cable will cost as much as it will take to re-shell these ...

depends on how your seal is, and how well you are getting isolation. if you get a good seal and good isolation, i dont see much you would gain other than a custom fit. however then if you go to sell them then you are looking at custom fit iem's which will be harder sale, and you might end up taking a loss. just my opinion

Thanks for the opinion moose. I was thinking on taking a step further with my 4ai by reshelling. Using comply tips are more costly in the long run. I know that customs deliver much better isolation and seal but the constant changing of shape of the ear canals worries me.

Should I reshell my Gr07 and get a new cable? Or get new universals? It's difficult for me to get customs as from my country its alot of administrative work. But reshelling is not a problem as there are alot of poeple that do it here.
