I heard HS1650 CU and HS1670 SS at Portable Audio Festival at Tokyo.
I like HS1550 CU too, but I prefer more tight basses and more bright highs.
I had a chance to hear the prototype of HS1650 and HS1670 at Headphone Festival April 2018.
In April, prototype of HS1650 sounded best for Me. More smooth highs than HS1551 and also tight bass than HS1551.
I was really looking forward to hear the production version of HS1650 CU, but it was not good than the prototype that I heard in April.
HS1670 SS was more warm and more bass than HS1650 CU.

At the Portable Audio Festival, I heard that HS1650 CU is going to be priced 59800 JPY and HS1670 SS will be 69800 JPY.
Both are planned to come out at mid August.
After the Portable Audio Festival, one of My twitter follower tweeted that Acoustune is going to readjust the sound because there were many impressions from the customers that felt the same with Me.

I don't know if HS1650 and HS1670 will come out as planned, also I think the sound will sound different.

I wrote My thoughts on my blog.

How would you describe the midrange in HS1650 CU? I've heard people describe it as sweet, rich, smooth, liquid, full-bodied in HS1551 CU. Any chance you've heard HE-500?
I was about to pull the trigger on HS1551 CU until I read your impression of the bass. I want fast, tight and punchy bass and was a little bit concerned about this. I also want well-extended bass.

The midrange of HS1650 CU was very close to HS1551.
"sweet, rich, smooth, liquid, full-bodied" is a great word to describe Acoustune's sound and HS1650 had that midrange too.
For my ears HS1650 sounded more neutral and less midrange.

I haven't heard HE-500. My favorite Headphone is DT 1770 PRO. I like more neutral sound, so that's why I liked the prototype that I heard in April.
If You like fast and tight bass, I recommend to try AKG's N5005 which I purchased.
But N5005 is quite expensive, so waiting for HS1650 CU will be a good choice too.
I am looking up for HS1650 to come out with the sound that I heard in April.

what types of music genres are you listening to? to my ears, 1551 will be good for mostly anything as long as you don't compare it on metal with good planar-magnetic headphones. if you want planar like bass quality, it's pointless to look for it anywhere else.

Hi guys, finally found the Acoustune thread. What a good lineup! I recently had the chance to try them including the newly-released 1650CU and 1670SS at a local audio show and for the price asked, the sound quality was excellent! I was particularly smitten with the 1650CU which ended up a show favourite.

Got a chance to demo the HS1551 CU today. Basically an insta buy. Exactly what I wanted/expected from them with all the reading I've done about the HS1551. All the concerns I had about comfort and fit ended up being a non-issue. The isolation is a little weak, but that's why I have Etys for the bus/train.
