Mmm.....need more impressions of the M20. Dealer has reserved one unit for me. Primary use for me is Tidal offline device. Right now, my ZX2 does Tidal. Need another device. Should I go for the M20? I was not impressed by the Fiio X7. Tia.

Good score.
Bit dubious about the preset EQ but then if it's a good player I won't need EQ!
Chinky little beast st 177 grams.
I hope that amp chip is up to the task. SQ wise.

Greetings All,

Acoustic Research Hi-Fi Division (DACS, DAPS and more)  will be a Head-Fi Insider by the end of w/c June 1st.

We won't be answering questions 24/7 or indeed replying with 5 nanoseconds (-: but will be around to offer accurate info and technical help on the M2, new M20, UA1 DAC and more.

We plan some UK and USA review tours as well, so let me know if you are interested in testing the M2 / M20 etc?

Best Regards

Robert for AR

As I commented on the first page of this thread, I'd be very interested if this uses a vanilla or close to vanilla Android OS where I can use regular Android apps (Google Play Music). If that is the case I'd love to check it out on a review tour.

Hi Mr Monster

Sorry, can't make you 100% happy this time. Vanilla Android whatever version, causes so many problems with SQ that we spent a HUGE (really huge) amount of time engineering a "Bit Perfect Direct Path" for the AR Music player, which significantly improves SQ by bypassing the OS totally. One listen vs any other $700-$1000 class player will convince you.

Because we hacked the OS so much, we cannot install Google Play / Music

HOWEVER you can easily install Amazon Underground App store directly via the M20 browser and then install Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify etc. Or you can just side load the apps.

What do you think??

Best Regards, Robert

It's worked everywhere I've tried it, UK, USA, OZ etc, don't think it is geo-limited? - Cheers Robert
