Just stumbled into this. I see two players, the newer one, M20, and the earlier M2.

Which is the better sounding player? Are there major differences?

I see it's Android based, but the OS has been tweaked. Do we have root access? If not, can we get root access? Viper4android?

m20, 16h+/- hour battery, no hiss so would go great with Empire line-up. M2, half battery, more power to drive your gear but can be hissy.
If I find the m20 for like 400eur I might be tempted to buy one to pair with my Zeus R even though I'm gonna get the wm1a once it's out haha

Thanks bro!! Another Sony sold... I'm in same boat, I have to get it. Of course that won't be enough though, on top of my P1, soon to be here Cowon S, X7, and possibly another zx2... So, why not add one of these Acoustic Research players too? We need serious help my friend.

Nope, currently there is no long press to skip function.

FYI - Typical Android phones have 20 volume steps, while we have 150 steps on the M20.  This gives a very very fine volume level adjustment so we need to use long press to continuously adjust the volume level.  Therefore, that suggestion does not work.

I see in the picture on the product page the USB port is labeled OTG.  Will this also work then as a digital out via an OTG cable to a portable DAC/AMP, such as my ALO Audio Continental Dual Mono?

Sorry no, this is for OTG storage like thumb drives  etc. There is no digital out.

hi, could someone confirm if you turn on wifi, there is low level static noise. this is audible when no music playing. is this a defect or normal? AR M2 had this because it is more powerful but want to check if M20 has this too.

I did see a FW update which fixed gapless playback for WAV and AIFF files, is it possible to play FLAC gapless as well?
Any chance on a 20% deal for your European customers as well?

Well, technically you could do it. It could be implemented in such a way that "long press to skip" only works when the screen is locked/turned off.

We do not need large volume adjustments when the screen is locked anyway. In fact, having large volume adjustments available while screen is locked is an issue when the button is unintentionally pressed while screen is locked (happened many times).

It already plays FLAC gapless. Sorry no Euro discounts at this time. The distribution is via totally different companies I'm afraid. Will post here if anything rises
