Acoustic Research M20 Coming soon

The position of the volume control does not indicate the power being used.
Some volume controls are set to look or sound powerful, by delivering all the volume early in the range e.g. 35/70 is probably 95% of available power
The AR as in most good Hi-Fi, has a linear control that delivers the correct volume for the setting, so 95% of power at 95% setting
Comparing specs, the M20 is slightly more powerful than your old player and massively more so than others in the same price class.
Let us know how you get on with extended listening?

The volume i am getting was really ridiculously low, even at max, it is only about 60% volume on iPhone. I suspected it was a defected unit, but when I called up the customer service, they insisted that was right and suggested me to return it. That was really bad customer service I would say, at least they should suggest me to send over for a check up before telling me to return it for refund. and yes, I sent it back.

I went to the AR website
http://www.acousticresearch-hifi.com/

signed up for the newsletter at the bottom of the front page but did not get a coupon for the M20.
I was on the fence between the opus bit #1 or #2 but then I saw this thread.
The opus #1 has 2v output so it's similar in power to the M20.

What's the SNR and crosstalk of the M20?

Where exactly do I click on the AR page to get the coupon?

Something definitely wrong ref levels and not come across this before, I use my M20 every day and it can go loud. Sorry about the customer service people, I'll pass that onwards. Did you want to try another one?

Installing Android Apps on Acoustic Research DAPs

We do not use Google Play on any AR player and it cannot be installed, as we have hacked the Android OS to markedly improve sound. The M20 is not a games machine. Keep it clean! for best sound.

MAKE sure to check ' Allow Install from Unknown Sources" OS/Settings/Security

Install Amazon Underground (App Store) Android app directly via the Android OS browser
Go to https://www.amazon.com/underground and follow the on-screen instructions.
This will then let you install Deezer, Spotify. TIDAL, Qobuz and more AND keep them up-to-date

OR a direct alternative for pure app installs
Go to these pages on the internal web browser for latest versions
- TIDAL http://downloader-apk.com/?id=Tidal
- SPOTIFY http://downloader-apk.com/?id=spotify
- QOBUZ http://downloader-apk.com/?id=Qobuz

Through my Campfire Andromeda I am basically getting zero bass. Very weak and thin sounding. What's going on?

Very odd, not come across this. Do you have any other headphones to they as a cross reference?
