Here are the step by step pics to the blu-tak mod (although I used "white-tak", not "blu-tak" for this particular mod. Same stuff, just a different color).
A900's before any modding:

Bass Tuning
OK, what you will notice with this is that the deep bass will be a bit less, the upper bass will be thighter, the mids more forward, and no echo in the highs. Bass can be boosted by adding more cotton, or putting the grey donut foam back in. However, this will result in a slight attenuation of the highs. Personally I stuffed the hell out of my a900's for the better bass and slightly softer highs (the above pics are not of my a900's, mine have more cotton than that). Anyway, now that you can see how to get in there, you can experiment with foam and cotton stuffing to tune the sound of the a900's to whatever type of sound you most prefer.

Hope this helps!!

Please be sure to have pics of the removal/putting-back-on of the pads, as well as the DADS cotton (before mod) and cotton balls (after mod)

Cool, thanks Tyson. I am looking forward to seeing the pix. I just got some blu-tack yesterday, and being married (to a woman), there's plenty of cotton balls in da house.

I'm very curious to see Tyson's work...I just did the mod last night, and I'm wondering if I used too much or too little cotton (I used about 5 balls per earcup). I got the boost in mids, but I think I've lost a lot in the bass regions...

How much bass did you lose? Did the bass tighten up but lose it's slam? Im getting mine modded and i hope i don't lose to much bass slam.

How are the rest of the improvements? (Mids, detail, highs)
