To be direct, FiiO, you sold a product with a promise of MQA from Tidal. Many, many users are now waiting a long time.
I am a very patient person, but to be honest, this experience has made me question whether I will continue to purchase FiiO products.

it has MQA now... its just that its not fully unfolded with the Fiio App due to Tidal not fixing on their end..... if you want full unfold with these players you just need to load the playback app USB Audio Player Pro.... then the MQA files will unfold all the way...

Hi Dixter,
Thank you for sharing that--I appreciate it! Indeed, I am aware of the 2x unfolding and the UAPP workaround to get the full 8x.

What is bothering me is the fact that I need a workaround as opposed to native unfolding through Tidal whilst streaming... That was my understanding upon purchase, and it was promised several months ago (which was a bumped back date with Covid, which I totally appreciate), but it's been significant time after that, and now I just feel manipulated. I'd have simply bought a player capable of native unfolding had I known about the issue in the first place. That feels deceptive, and coupled with a lack of transparency--communication-wise--I am unhappy.

Relax dude it's coming

yep... I didn't post that response to give you any trouble... just didn't know if you knew about the work around from UAPP.... Personally I wish it was a combined app like the Fiio music app and the UAPP together... there are things I like about both...
But now that I have been using the UAPP app I have begun to question my other players and how they interact with the TIDAL MQA... I think when Fiio let us see the playback parameters at the top of the player I don't think I even noticed that TIDAL was messing up the MQA.... and even when I play the PC version of the TIDAL MQA I no longer trust its actually doing the proper unfolding... as it just doesn't report it... a small dot is only an indication that a MQA unfold has occurred... it doesn't tell you how far its being unfolded...
I would be a little surprised if TIDAL does anything about this as they seem to be fine to hide the actual true unfolding on their end...

Oh no--I did appreciate it! If I hadn't known, that post would have been a godsend. I appreciate the helpful nature! To be sure, Tidal's GUI isn't my favorite by a long shot.

Your point about the veiled nature of the unfold in the first place is a really good one--hadn't considered that. I kinda question whether Tidal is even making a problem in the first place, but that's pure grumpy speculation...

Anyway, thank you!

I think we are on the same track... :) I paired my M11Pro the other day with the new Topping A90 Amp.... they sound fantastic together... I am very surprised how well it sounds with the M11Pro

Nice!

I read some amazing reviews of the A90. Zeos spent over a half hour on it. What's your thinking on it? In particular related to pairing with (1) a reference-ish IEM?
I've been looking longingly at some of the Feliks amps as well...

Trying to warm up well-defined mids and highs without making mud...

Well for IEM the A90 has probably the lowest noise floor of any amp ever produced... thats amazing on its own... but it also has quite a bit of power and that for an IEM can be good and can be bad.... good in that you won't have any issues with not enough power for dynamics but one issue with all amps with power is the fact that when you plug in an IEM then you can't adjust the volume knob very far because there is so much power and you could experience a potential mis balance of the two channels... to correct for an IEM with a desk top amp I would highly suggest you get the ifi iEMatch which will allow you better range on the volume potentiometer.... this will allow you to adjust the volume knob further away from the minimum range and correct a potential mis balance of the channels.

Thank you! I will look into the iEMatch--great idea! With that strategy, I could leave the iEMatch on the IEM cable and swap out for my power-hungry Planars without a fuss. Love it.

Where can we find M11 BETA firmware 0623 or newer?
Based on the filenaming convention below, I modified the date and typed

fiio-file.fiio.net/M11-ota-20200623.zip

into my browser and it LOOKS like firmware...

Hi, here comes the latest 0604 beta firmware for M11/M11Pro/M15.
Notice: this version is still under beta testing phase. If you have any problem, please feel free to contact us at support@fiio.com. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
