well, if that's really it, i have to say i'll be a little disappointed. unless of course it has decent battery life, better sq and better eq. hey, maybe they'll offer both a video and non-video ipod? doubt it.

and if it's wider and thinner... all of the speaker accessories that use the docking mechanism will be obsolete, too. i dunno, it seems like ipod would seriously piss off all of the third-party vendors.

although there are some who are dissapointed, with these first pics, I have to say any increase in the screen size and decrease in thinkness is quite an improvement.

Again I am more interested in the SQ and features. If the new ipod have better sound SQ, I am getting it reguardless of the scene size. I almost think of these as a car model change. They aren't going to completely change the layout of the ipod. This would alienate there customers.

How is it that pictures turn up 15 mins before the release time, in Japenese. Pictures look pretty real, they are close the the pics form the ads, and I think that is it. 5 Gen ipod. Now the features.

A rough translation (simiplied chinese is not my strong suit).

Shut off
Main Menu
Shuffle (on/off)
Repeat (on/off)
Backlight setting
"have sound" something, sorry don't know
Equalizer??? In Chinese, I think it means Balancing Tool (Straight translation)
no idea what this is, sorry (on/off)
Volume Balance (Straing translation, again) (on/off)

The ones without (on/off) seem to go to a submenu

Weird that it is a 30 gig ipod though.

Not really, I have a 30GB iPod photo. The hard drive (one platter) is thinner than the current 60GB drive (two platters). We were expecting 40 and 80GB though, as just general increases in hard drive capacity. I don't know if perpendicular recording drives exist yet.

I am sure this is going over well but the price is $500 dollars. From what I am seeing on other sites.. But this is a rumor.

If anyone can get to either

http://live.ilounge.com/

Free feel to post what you find. I can't get two the sites.

Go to http://www.appleipodvideo.com, it takes you to apple store page.

Here is what is going on...

- There are three 'acts' to his speech.

The best will no doubt come last.
- Act 1: iMac - which sold over 1m in last year. The all-new iMac has three new features: it's thinner, it's got an iSight videocamera built in and new app called Photobooth. Finally, there's a new app called Front Row.

- Act 2:the iPod. Apple has shipped over a million Nanos in less than five weeks. Now, it's the NEW white iPod - and yes it does video! The format is similar to the old pod but with a bigger screen - a 2.5in TFT display with 320x240 pixels with realtime decoding of MPEG 4 and H.264 video. It's only got 260,000 colours but it does have video output to connect to TV.

- The video iPod is available in 30 and 60 GB capacities - and both are thinner than the current 20GB Pod. 30GB will be $299, 60GB will be $399. UK prices will be confirmed later. And did we mention it was available in black? Oh yes, and it comes with a case, so don't worry about scratches!

- Act 3: iTunes iTunes has an 84% market share in the US. Five weeks after the launch of iTunes 5, here's iTunes 6. Surely video downloads are the order of the day? Hell yes.

- here are the big changes: firstly, 'gifting' - you can buy music for other people, who get an email telling them to download. Next: customer reviews - Amazon-style peer reviews of music. Third: Just For You (beta) - a recommendation service, again similar to what Amazon offers.

- and finally... music videos. Currently there are 2000 available to buy. But they're gonna cost $1.99. And Pixar are offering 6 short films, also for $1.99. The price seems a bit high, and didn't get a cheer from the audience. The videos take the space of six songs (so about 20MB) and have the same rights management as music tracks.

EDIT: apparently, the theatre is in a cellular dead zone, so updates are ssssloowwww.

Yeah, but bad cellphone coverage + no wi-fi spots or Deliberate blocking by Apple, so we'll have to wait a bit longer

That thing is thin. Doesn't look like USB OTG. Nooooo
