I wish I could be involved in the discussion but Glenn has had my amp for 4 years now and I don't think I am ever getting it back. :disappointed:
Wait? What? Why? How does that happen? Dude. That is horrible.

Dave, is Glenn still around? I have not heard from him in a long time.

I believe (and hope) Glenn is still around. I know Stavros speaks to him regularly but I haven't spoken to Stavros in several months.

Glenn has had a lot going on in his life in additional to his health struggles. I just wish he could put a label on the box and ship it back to me.

Ooof. I had planned to send mine to him for repair, but I didn't hear back. I have one channel that fades as it warms up.

Picked up a Raytheon RK33, which is essentially the equivalent of the RCA and Ken-Rad 1642 / 2C21 / 38233, but with a ceramic base, as pictured above. Sounds good! :)

Looking good! I have a 1641 I wanted to try swapping in for the 596 I have in mine.

The 1641 works fine in Glenn's OTL. And I can't detect any difference between the Raytheon and the General Electronics version. :)

Have you tried a local repair shop? A lot of repair shops don't like to work on custom amps, but Glenn built his amps very well, so it might be worth a try.

I have not. I thought about popping it open to look for a weak solder joint. I planned to dump it on the EEs at the office and let them take a look too.

Fortunately, my Glenn OTL is still working fine, but I have often wondered how I would get it repaired if it becomes necessary. There is a store near me specializing in buying, selling and servicing vintage audio gear. At the very least, they have experience with tubes. So I think I would start there...
