Indeed they are. I like to run this pair when I'm not using the hexfred adapters so I can get full glow.
Has anyone compared c3g to the 5a/152m? I’ve read that they are similar tubes.

Giving my Glenn some love with Fivre 6C5Gs which just arrived from Italy today. Also recently managed to get 6 Melz 6N12S (2 dead initially but came back to life heating the pins which I finally tried). Brimar GZ32 rectifier. Finally no hum (from the Melz). Both Atriums are really special on the Glenn!

The Melz 6N12S are amazing for their clarity and are permanently parked in my GOTL.
Inexpensive 6S2S drivers (you need a pair with a dual adapter) makes for a beautiful sound.
Enjoy!

Thanks just found 7 (6S2S) for $70 shipped, which is enough for 2 for the Glenn & 4 for the Envy (My Glenn has native 6J5 sockets). The 6N12S provide the benefits of 6bx7 without the hum and higher noise floor.

Looks great and I'm sure it sounds great! :)

But I want to caution you. It appears that your Brimar GZ32 is actually a Russian-made 5Ц4С. (Notice the getter holder looks like a "flying saucer.")
As best as I can tell, it can provide about 120mA. Whereas, a genuine Mullard GZ32 can provide 250mA or more.

If you run 6AS7-type tubes, the amp wants about 250mA and there is considerable risk that that 5Ц4С might fail. That is, overheat and short-out. Further, six 6BX7 or 6N12S want about 175mA, so again that rectifier might fail.

But a genuine Mullard GZ32 is a superb choice and I encourage you to get one. :)

Oh crap, well thank you! Weird because I got it direct from Langrex which I thought was always reliable. At least it was cheap and it's been one of my favorite sounding. Fortunately the Mullard GZ32 is one I have which came with the amp from @Monsterzero

Interestingly the Langrex description for the same tube as a matched pair explicitly says made in Russia.

Given what you said, is there anything I can run reliably in the Glenn with this screwy "Brimar"?

It's been pretty quiet here recently....

In another forum, I've forgotten which one, someone spoke highly about a black-glass Tung-Sol 12AU7, and so I decided to get one and check it out. Haven't had a chance to compare it to the black-glass round-plate Tung-Sol 6SN7, but I can say that first impressions are good. :)

And some dust :D
I'm enjoying my 300b/C3G/RK60 Glenn amp with the ZMF Caldera at this very moment.
Happy listening!
You have a Glenn 300B amp? There's not many of us on here with that amp. Post a pic :) Absolutely love mine with the Abyss.

I think they could hold the weight of normal headphones. I once smashed an EL3N tube that had shorted out (faulty adapter) and it took a couple of tries with a hammer to shatter the glass....
Just tried it with a non-working 1939 TFK EL12 tube - works very well holding the cans. Since the tube is ST shaped the headphone (Beyerdynamic T1 Gen 1 at 19oz with cable) rests securely.
Personally I think this would make for a nice low cost headphone stand.
I am actually using two dead ST style tubes as headphone hangers- glued them onto PVC tubes and attached them to my equipment rack.

Can't think of something better to do with a 1939 dead EL12 tube (top)...

I have two of those! Will be listing these for sale along with several 6J5/6C5 if anyone is interested.

Recently picked up an Ei 6FQ7, made in Yugoslavia. The 6FQ7 was intended to be a 9-pin, all-glass replacement for the 6SN7, and therefore, electrically, it is essentially identical, with an amplification factor of 20. The construction suggests Philip's tooling and it has a Philips production code etched into the glass. The production code includes the Philip's factory symbol for Ei and "4D". It appears that Ei went bankrupt in 2016, so the code could be April, 2014 or 2004? or 1994?, or perhaps earlier? Anyway, it sounds pretty good. :)

Oh, I recently purchased a pair of iBasso SR3 headphones. And I'm definitely going to keep them! :)
