I got these today after reading the many praises in this forum. Until now the best headphones I had had were Grado SR60, but those lasted only a few months before one of the cans broke and all I could hear was crackle. I don't know if the same will happen with these, my guess is not because I've had the same brand many years ago and they didn't break.

But these sound at least as good as the Grado, if not better. This is what I call a true flat curve. No frequencies get in the way of the others. I read here about some people saying that the highs were not that great in this model, which I don't understand because the highs are excellent and far better than any other headphones that I've tried before. The other day I was at Best Buy and I tried the Bose that were about $300, and some Dr. Dre that were about $400, and I don't know what they were connected to, but I can assure you that these JVCs kick their asses easily. It's unbelievable that these are only $36. These are worth at least $100 if not more.

Also, while I read here about the 100 hour break in period and how bad they sound out of the box, to me they sound excellent out of the box. Even if they don't improve at all after the break in period, I will be more than happy as they are. Same thing for mods. I was planning on doing that based on how many people do it here, but they sound so perfect that I'm not going to take any risk opening them.

So if anybody has any doubt on buying these or not, take the plunge. You will not regret it.

Awesome. I'm glad you found some headphones you really like. And especially for the insane value!

I was so, so close to buying that multiple times in the past. Maybe I should just get it over with now...

I compared these headphones directly with Denon D2000 and the JVC win hands down. The sound is better balanced, not so bloated however they have a similar sound signature. The funny thing is, or irritating rather, is I'll suggest these headphones to members thinking about buying the Denons and almost always they'll choose the Denons simply because they look better, it's sickening. What's even crazier is you can mod the Denons and it is in fact suggested to clear up the sound; the result is something even closer to the RX700s.

Slap some wood on these cans and a $500 price tag and you'd fine more members enjoying them.

Hmm, I'm really intrigued now. I've always loved the D2000, and thought they sounded wonderful. And these are only $40.

Quick question, how are the pads? They look similar to the A700's pads, which where the cheapest looking things I've ever seen. Flaking would be imminent.

Uh oh. I feel yet another order is about to be placed for headphones I clearly don't need!

Thanks a lot Graphicism.

Yeah, put some fancy name and some fancy package, these baby will worth that much. The HARX 700 with some good SS amp will kick a lot of ass of cans worth 3 /4 times . BALANCED is the adjective to describe  the HARX 700.

Hey anything I can do to spend other peoples money I'm all for... actually Katun you might prefer these to some of your other pricier cans which you end up selling.

Pleased you found the mod to your liking winma... interesting that you prefer them to your AD700s, I've never heard em.

I would say they're on the warmer side of balanced and yes the bass is still a little bloated however I still find them better behaved than the Denons, and for the money, no complaints!

Hi there, I am listening to Steve R Vaughan at this right moment, and my $38.00 cans HARX700 can do everything the M50s can so I returned the M50s for 2 more HARX 700 just to have some spare down the road.

Sorry to Hijack the thread, but does anyone know what kind of pads i can buy to replace the stock pads on these?

What size would fit the cups? I've been looking around, but cant find any details other than someone taping ok akg pads on.

Thanks.

I've had the RX700s and RX900s, and I feel the D2000s hands down beat the JVCs. The JVCs just sounded...fuzzy and off compared to other headphones, even after mods. Still, they're incredible for the price.

Why, what's wrong with the original pads? They're very comfortable.
