New Head-Fier
Pros: + Plenty of good accessories
+ Lightweight IEMs
+ Sound tuning suitable for an all-arounder that is fun
+ Natural bass and sub-bass
+ Vocals with forward and airy presentation
+ Clear and appropriate treble
+ Wide soundstage
+ One of the best micro-details offered at this price
+ Excellent instrument separation and positioning at this price range
Cons: - Uncommon cable design, annoying ear hooks
- Fairly thick body
- Sub-bass impact too quick/short
- Thin vocals
- Upper mid to treble has sibilance/unclear in some songs
Since these IEMs have reached the "burnt" maturity level in Indonesia and I just got a chance to try them, let's turn on the stove and oil, then soak them again until they are no longer...

Good review! Thanks!

Sad about the timre of the treble, I feel like it seems like most IEMs nowadays try to do something special with the treble that makes it seem colored.. I disliked the Cincotres for the same reason and Jaytiss also picked up on that..

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Harman tuning
Clear and detailed bass with no bleed into the mid-range
Clean and detailed vocals
Well-extended treble adds clarity and airiness
Decent technical performance across the frequency range
Versatile configuration with four distinct drivers
Cons: Upper mid-range can be shouty or shrill at higher volumes
Bass lacks slam and thump, with average texture
Treble can sound harsh and with an unnatural timbre at moderate to loud volumes
EA500 LM has better bass slam and texture, less energetic upper mid-range, and similar technicalities
The SIMGOT SuperMix 4 IEM is an ambitious piece of audio engineering, featuring a unique hybrid driver setup that includes a dynamic driver, a balanced armature, a planar driver, and a...

@gadgetgod Thanks a lot man. I wouldn't say they are always shouty, but they do have a tendency to frequently venture into that shouty territory with energetic music at moderate volumes. This can sometimes make them fatiguing, depending on the type of music you're listening to. However, vocals are definitely clean and forward, particularly in the upper mid-range. I'm looking forward to reading your review of the Explorer and perhaps a comparison with the SM4 if you get the chance.

Headphoneus Supremus
Pros: Decently accessorized
Small profile, comfortable and lightweight
Easy to drive
Balanced (and unique) neutral with sub-bass tuning, different from the usual Harman suspects
Excellent bass texturing and quality
Clear midrange with no shoutiness in vocals
Smooth and non-fatiguing treble
Solid technicalities - in particular imaging and instrument separation
Cons: Compressed soundstage
Slight BA timbre

Hi! Thank you for the review! I am sold and eagerly awaiting for my pair to arrive!

Out of these three dongle/dac/amp would you think will best pair up with the AFUL Explorer?

Apple Lightning to 3.5mm
FiiO KA11
iFi Go Link

Hi @domizz

The Explorer is essentially easily driven, so even a weaker Apple dongle should do the job IMO. Don't really need big power.

Previously known as J Weiner
Pros: Small light and comfortable.
Vocal specialist both male and female.
Energetic mids and rich
Excellent bass and delicate refined treble.
Excellent imaging and resolution of details
Cons: 0.78 Socket pins are very tight initially. (could be a pro)
Rolled off subbass may not suit all tastes.

SemperMalum

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Thundering yet Controlled Bass
V-Shaped tuning done right
Subwoofer Feeling/Effect (similar to Scarlet Mini) makes this a fun set without taking anything away
Extremely Comfortable
Natural timbre and solid technicalities
Still a capable all-rounder while giving you visceral bass
Cons: Power hungry (not as power hungry as Maestro Mini's siblings but still needs power to open up the sound)
Not as smooth as similarly priced IEMs
Not exactly budget friendly
Occasionally sharp which is not ideal for the treble sensitive or high volume listening
TL;DR: Unapologetically V-Shaped sound with a subwoofer in your Ear

Overview/History

Hi all.

New Head-Fier
Pros: One of HBB’s “best collab” in terms of overall sound! (personal take, subjective)

A well-tuned, neutral-warm sounding IEM!

Well, controlled, punchy, bass quality.

Lush, smooth, thick mids.

Non-fatiguing upper frequencies.

Very good technical performance for its price, particularly on layering and imaging.

Beautiful, visually-pleasing, vibrant IEM shells!

Very good comfort, fit and isolation!

No “driver flex” unlike some resin-based IEMs! (I appreciate this a lot)

Very good included accessories in terms of quality!

Scales well with a fairly powerful source.
Cons: Despite having a very good technical performance in my book, this isn’t the IEM you may want to look at first if you are looking for a highly-technical IEM under 100 USD.

A bit harder to drive properly than usual; has the same volume needed of the HBB Hades using the same setup.

Shell can be a bit chunky to smaller ears.

Cable is not “up to par” in terms of overall material quality for its asking price.

They did include a pouch, but a hard case would’ve been nice since this is a resin-based IEM (definitely a nitpick)

@Ichos Hey, great review! I’ve been using Q15 for two months, and I must say it truly excels in almost everything. You can’t neglect its portability and versatility. The design and build quality is awesome. Desktop mode is also a game changer for anyone who wants to maximize its power.

My only gripe regarding Q15 is software, which is currently behind KA17 in terms of EQ functionality and has potential to brick due to firmware update failure (it happened to my previous unit).
