The Studio Monitor
The Hisenior T2 the entry level IEM, Bought it for 70 usd at stock sales the normal price is now 95 usd at their own website. They have a neutral tuning which makes them perfect for Musicians, Stageworkers and for people who just want to do some home mixing and mastering. These are going in my backpack for now for stagework. I find it hard to be honest to look at them with Hifi eyes since that’s not really their use case or intended use case. I didn't listen to much music unless I made it myself or played it myself since they made for it.

The shells are made in Egger Allergy free resin. Just a simple plain black yes i know you can get custom versions of these like all of their models. The cable is an absolutely beautiful choice and puts other brands to shame of what kind of cables they give with their iem. Even the Tips were quite carefully picked at a bore size of 3.9mm. Then you have the pelican type of case you get. This is a real plus in my book. The overall package for what you get for your money is absolutely top notch. You feel from the get go that it’s made to last and not a throw away candy. Most iem’s you buy well the iem’s are worth keeping the other part are mostly e waste unfortunately.

434113465_1332800397384984_7008084817735421780_n.jpg

Tonality: Well like I told you already their neutral as they can get it. The Knowles 2 BA’s (CI+ED) have a choice to really work together. You can also call them balanced to give the person an “uncolored” representation. How something is being played. That’s what a studio monitor his job is, Found best working for musicians that play Drum/Bass/Vocal/Guitar. Here are the building blocks to make a wonderful studio monitor. The only “con” I found is that female vocals might be slightly on the darker side. Male vocals were absolutely fine.

Bass: the bass shelf ain’t that big so if you love your bass it might be on the thinner side. but the texture and the attack and decay in the envelope is absolutely good since. didn't really find the “normal” BA timbre you can have at times. but there's still enough punch and more than bite to let you head bump on the music. Even though the graph looks flat in bass it really packs something.

Mids: since the tuning is balanced nor the treble and bass overpower. In this case the details from the Mids aren't lost and that is a must for a studio monitor. Those are where the most instruments sit. There clean you can say okay the bassist i have to turn that one down a little cuz it might over power the others. Here again an envelope of the instrument itself was very nice done. the coherence as well between the 2 drivers is well carefully done

420692974_1468025453786139_753012770569882963_n.jpg

Treble: no sibilance and no sharp edges. I still hear clearly higher tones from some instruments that can handle Violin is one of that group Cello is another. Even a guitar can go into high treble all depending on what snares you have on them and how it tunes. A classic snare set goes to around 4-5k tops in a D tuning. as soon as you go to the tinner bottom snairs your pitch goes up. The Treble is really fine even for treble sensitief people a studio monitor can work wonders. But the recording has to be good as well.

Soundstage: And for this I have to compare it to my older S215. So I have an apples to apples comparison and not apples to pears. The T2 just sweeps the floor with it in all aspects on the soundstage. Is far wider, has more depth, and even more play on you can tune a musician. lower their recording volume while pushing them also a little more back into the background so you can really have a wonderful recording. That feels open and doesn't go into the volume war that we had last decennia pushing everything louder and louder until everything is just filled with noise that is also where Sibelane can form. That while playback on most of the other playback.

Technicals: I found it really good what Hisenior has done with just 2 carefully selected BA’s. I can really pick out good recordings from bad recordings. can’t really tell much more to be honest. It was just well done.
Knipsel.PNG

But all said and done, can i recommend this IEM for anyone who does some music production or plays an instrument hell YES. even over S215 and my Dt 770 Pro. I'll add some tracks/songs that I will help make. Yes it’s rap and it’s in dutch but try to set that apart al try to put yourself in my shoes i’m trying to make the best of what the artist wanna bring. I’m gonna look to my library and see that not all hi-hats, kicks, snares but also some trumpet and some guitar (played by myself then in that case). They can work in some cases both as just a listening set as a studio monitor.

Hisenior T2 REVIEW
Pros: Well Balanced Tuning, Excellent Mids, Quality Stock Cable and Accessories, Very good for casual listening
Cons: Lack of Sub-bass, Average Soundstage, Highs are not shiny
Introduction: -

Hisenior is a Chinese audio company founded in 2015 and they specialize in handcrafted custom in-ear monitors for musicians, studio engineers and audiophiles. They mostly create multi-balanced armature earphones, as well as hybrid IEMs. Hisenior T2 is Hisenior's 2BA offering in the sub-$150 price range. Usually, it sells at $119.00, but on sale for an undetermined time for as low as $95.00 on the official website. Also, the custom version of T2 is selling for $115.00.

Pro-Capture One 00051.jpg

Specifications: -
  • Driver Configuration: 2 Balanced Armature (Knowles)
  • Crossover: 2-Way Passive Crossovers/Dual-Bores/2 Dampers
  • Impedance: 18Ω
  • Freq Response: 20Hz-20Khz
  • Sensitivity: 105dB/mW
Disclaimer: -

We are thankful to Hisenior for the discounted price for the IEM. We were also delighted with the opportunity to review it.

Packaging & Accessories: -

The T2 didn’t come in an official package, but with all the official accessories, which include T2 Classic in-ear monitor, 8Core Silver-plated OCC Upgrade Cable with 3.5mm Termination (Both MMCX & 2Pins 0.78mm options available, we chose 2Pins 0.78mm), Pelican Waterproof Protective Case, Clean Fiber Wiper, All Size Ear-Tips a pair each. What else do you want for that price?

Pro-Capture One 00072.jpg

Pro-Capture One 00031.jpg

IEM Build & Design: -

The T2 Classic has allergy-free resin shells and there is a smooth surface. As we had the option of getting a custom-designed faceplate, we received the IEM as we designed it, and it looks beautiful. It also feels very solid in the hands. The Universal one comes in dark translucent shells. Both versions have a text, “febos” in silver color.

Sound Analysis: -

graph (1).png

Credits: @aftersound
  • Lows: - Since the tonality of the IEM leans towards a bit of a warm balanced sound, the mid-bass presentation here has decent quantity and quality. On bass-heavy tracks with sources like Aune M1p and Dethonray dtr1 plus, T2 still manages to give quality-sounding lows. The bass texture is rendered smoothly. But the sub-bass depth is just average at best. Drum kicks felt lacking at times, especially on thump and punchiness.

  • Mids: - The mids are well-balanced with good tonality. We can easily say that the mids are the highlights of this IEM. Mids are a bit forwarded here, which makes it a fun-sounding set. Vocal-centric and instrumental tracks felt alive and rich sounding. We would here like to specially mention that songs with piano and violin in the backdrop sounded phenomenally well. We really like how the vocals (both male and female) are well-rendered here. Here we would also like to add that the mids sounded really well with the Aune m1p and Dethonray dtr1 plus daps .as both of these daps are analytical thus the synergy with the IEM was great.

  • Highs: - Highs on this IEM is average with the treble doesn’t extend so well and is not that airy. It does have a beautiful natural timbre and tonality which makes it an excellent IEM for everyday use, but it doesn’t give you that sparkling. The detailing is decent at this price point. The highs do improve a bit with a neutral source but weren’t that great with mobile phones.

  • Soundstage & Imaging: - The soundstage is average here with more focus on cohesiveness. Not that wide but still acceptable as we believe that cohesiveness has its own fun. It’s quite natural for BA staging. Imaging is above average for its price tag. It actually surprises us with imaging. Separation is quite average as it sounds okay with electronic and pop music tracks, but it struggles on complex tracks where lots of instruments are involved.

  • Synergy: - At Aural Café, we strongly believe that sources play a great role in extracting maximum juice from the IEMs and we would like to advise the newcomers in this hobby to get a good source if you really want to enjoy the music in its Hi-Fi form, keeping all these things in mind, we recommend a DAP which is neutral and analytical in its presentation to go with Hisenior T2 and we are saying it after testing it with numerous daps in our table. We believe that, since the Hisenior T2 has a warm tonality, it merges really well with a neutral DAP. The mid-bass especially really improves with a good source. As of our experience, this IEM really has good synergy with Aune M1p, Dethonray dtr1 Plus and when it comes in a dongle it sounds really fun with Tanchjim Space.
Pro-Capture One 00097.jpg

Pro-Capture One 00066.jpg

Conclusion: -

This IEM is very capable set at the given price point of $119.00 and justifies even greater value at the Sale price. For everyday use, it does not create any kind of fatigue during longer sessions. The accessories given are top-notch. The Pelican protective case itself cannot be found in any IEM at this range. It admirably delivers well-balanced tuning. Isolation is one of the best if not the best at that price. Overall, we liked the set for its warm and fun tonality and timbre. For users who like wide soundstage with neutral tonality, we would not recommend this IEM. If anyone is willing to purchase, it is available for purchase through the official website of Hisenior.

Hisenior T2 Classic
Pros: Nice looking build
Lively mids
Well textured bass
Cons: Lacking some "sparkles" microdetails
Subbass rumble is not that great
Hisenior T2 Classic

Specification
:

Driver: All BA set up (Knowles) 1 for the low-mid, 1 for the highs
Impedance: 18 ohms
Sensitivity: 105db
FR range: 20hz-20khz

Source Used:
Acoustic Research AR-M200
XDuoo X3 (CS4398)
Realme 6 paired with externa DAC ( Avani, Abigail, JCally JA21)
Foobar2000
Tidal, Spotify,Qobuz, & Apple Music
(MP3 320kbps, FLAC 16bit,FLAC 24bit,WAV,DSD256)

Build:
The hisenior T2 classic shells is made of “Egger” allergy free resin. It has a glossy finish with a good shape which perfectly fit in my medium size ear. It has the dark translucent shells and on the faceplate side has a cursive text of “Febos” with a nice silver font color. It also uses a female mmcx connector as not commonly seen in most of the iems nowadays which im a fan of.

Sound Quality:

Lows: Bass has a good amount and of quantity and presentation, I enjoy listening to EDM tracks but somehow lacking on impact. Subbass has a decent rumble and has a average extension just like the other typical BA drivers. Overall I still enjoy listening to some electronic music such as bigroom, electro-house, drum and bass and also dubstep.

Mids: Mids are all good, it is slightly forward and it also sounds natural which brings the strength of this iem. Vocals and instruments sounded fine and not colored. The transparency of mids will give excitement when listening to Live sets, from acoustic guitar plucking to electric guitar shredding.

Treble: Treble doesn’t extend well and can be good or bad depending on the preffered genre of the user. It doesn’t give a piercing sound and doesn’t give that sparkling treble that some users will be looking into a BA drivers set-up. I don’t recommend this if your looking for analytical + detailed sounding IEM. If you’re a fan of relaxed treble then you are not having a problem with this IEM.

Soundstage & Imaging:

Soundstage has a average height and depth for an IEM, even tho slightly lacking for microdetails and sparkles, it can still manage to deliver a natural and almost uncolored sound.

Conclusion:

Its been a pleasure trying these Hisenior IEMs. Still, I was amazed on how they tune these BA drivers to deliver a natural and yet enjoyable sound. I’d recommend getting a pair of Hisenior IEM if there is a chance. It gave me a new sound experience that the audiophiles should try to.

MIDS :balanced mids presentation with good natural presentation on vocal. When i listen to JO YURI - GLASSY , I really enjoyed the good and natural vocals here. You can feel the vocal of girls member is sweeter on the songs. However sometime I feel fatigued while listening for long hours with some tracks

HISENIOR T2 Classic Universal – Not for everyone, definitely for an instrumentalist
Pros: • Very nice sealing and fit
• Neutral or almost flat sound signature (subjective)
• Nice ear tips inclusions
• Easy to drive
• Knowles balanced armatures (we love them right)
• Good starting price
Cons: • Might sound dry and clinical to some
• Cable might need extra care
• Small carrying case that cramp up the IEM
• bass and treble heads might find this one dark sounding (subjective)
• unforgivable on low quality tracks
DISCLAIMER:

I did not buy this product. It was provided as a review unit for the Philippines reviewer circle tour. Much thanks to HiSenior for providing us one. We are not compensated in any way. My thoughts and opinion here are not influenced by any form of incentive.

Manage your expectations as what works for me, might not work for you. We all have different perception when it comes to sound. My setup and gears may not be the same as yours, and that plays a big role in what I hear. I have learned lately that source plays a big role in this as I have been exploring different music streaming platforms. So, as we reviewers always say, take this as a grain of salt.

INTRODUCTION

Hisenior
is a company from China that specializes in custom IEMs for artists, musicians and audiophiles alike. The name was derived from the concept of HI-FI and Senior hence their mature leaning sound. More on this as we move on.

I am a professional gigging musician, mainly keys, sax and drums player. Worked in 5 star hotels, played for local artists here in Philippines, and studio work for indie artist too. I listen mostly to almost any genre, but minimal rock and almost to none metal. My personal preference is mostly jazz and fusion and contemporary pop.

INCLUSIONS and PACKAGING:

EDZ06965.JPG

As a review unit, we did not receive the official packaging. T2 came with a hard case, honestly quite small for the size of the IEM itself if you include the cable. Included was 4 pairs of silicon tips, in different sizes and colors, the cable, and the unit itself.

THE TIPS:

EDZ06969.JPG

The tips here are quite decent in count, in different colors and sizes. They seem decent in quality compare to some entry level tip inclusions. They are generally on the softer side. I lost one tip though on a gig, one M size white colored. My apologies Hisenior. Good thing spares were included. I used the M size silicon tip for this review.

THE CABLE:

EDZ06968.JPG

The cable is an 8-core silver platted OCC. Quite nice, have a decent weight. Looks nice on its pure black color. Easy to pair with any clothing you put on if that matters to you. Additional note though, I think the cable is not “that” tightly braided. I can see at times that the braid becomes loose. Extra effort for the care of the cable is noteworthy. Configuration is MMCX.

THE SHELL:

EDZ06971.JPG

The shell is made of Egger resin and allergy free. It has a glossy finish and very smooth feeling. I didn’t notice it till lately that it is translucent. it will only be visible upon direct light. It is on the darker smoky translucency. On the faceplates, “Febos” is written which I googled and found no meaning to this word. It is very light in weight and very comfortable to wear. More on its fitting and seal later on…

Now on to how it sounds…

TREBLE/HIGHS – 3.5/5

I’ll cut to the chase. Trebles sounded veiled here. Making some of my fellow reviewers claim this pair kind of dark sounding. Which I somewhat agree. But on some bright sounding tracks, I can sense some shimmer. The good side here is it never felt fatiguing to listen.

Conclusively Hisenior played it safe here on the trebles. If you are a treble head this might turn you off.

BASS – 3.5/5

Bass is on the lighter side here. And I mean really light. Again, on bass heavy tracks, T2 still manage to give quality sounding lows. Just less of it though. On jazz tracks, where acoustic upright bass is mostly used, T2 gives a well-rounded presentation. Drum kicks felt lacking at times specially on thump and punchiness but still every track we listen to is mixed differently.

EDZ06973.JPG

Conclusively, bass presentation here is really on the light side of things. I am not a bass head but quite often, I find myself looking for a bit more. Yet don’t get me wrong, lows here is quality over quantity.

MIDS – 4/5

This is where T2 shines. At least for me. Being a mid centric guy, I love my mids forward and it is forward here. Instrumental tracks felt alive and rich sounding. On a special note though, I occasionally find the drum snares a bit boxy. Almost artificial. Not all tracks but occasionally.

Conclusively, mids are full sounding, lush and rich. Instrument lovers are in for a treat on this department.

EDZ06972.JPG

VOCALS – 4/5

Vocals, which share a good amount of mids, are well presented. Both male and female. Forward and intimate and with a good amount of texture. Yet because of the trebles sounding veiled, female vocals sounded a tad bit dark. Still nothing to dislike here. Vocals are still engaging nonetheless.

SOUNDSTAGE AND IMAGING – 3.5/4

Stage is pretty decent here. I can sense depth as well as height. Not that wide but still acceptable. Imaging is good with panning of elements are quite audible. Again nothing out of the ordinary here but nothing to dislike.

FITTING/ISOLATION – 3.5/5

Fitting and sealing are above average here. Since this was meant to be used by musicians, on-stage. Isolation is really decent. I didn’t expect to have a snug fit from the looks of the IEM but it did give my ears a good hugging.

Here are some TRACKS that I used for reference. Allow me to share you some notes I’ve taken.

1. Summer Breeze by Patti Austin (16bit/44khz Tidal Masters via UAPP)
  • Lows here is quite punchy and has adequate amount.
  • Elements and instruments are well placed. A bit forward.
  • Electric guitar sounded artificial but I think it was intended that way.
  • Drum kick used is electronic. Well rounded and punchy.
  • Bass guitar is rich sounding.
  • Vocals are intimate are well textured.
  • Stage and imaging is acceptable.

2. Never Too Much by Luther Vandross (16bit/44khz Tidal Masters via UAPP)
  • Bass guitar has weight and thump. Very well textured.
  • Strings sits a bit at the back as a supporting element.
  • Guitar and keyboard are balanced and in good contrast.
  • Drums sounded natural. Drum kicks is on the light side but punchiness is felt.
  • Vocals sounded warm. A tad bit veiled.
  • Pianos are well textured.
  • Imaging and staging of instruments are well placed.

3. I’m not in Love by 10cc (16bit/44khz Tidal Masters via UAPP)
  • Lows are on the lighter side.
  • Vocals is presented well and has some openness on top.
  • Drum kicks is quality but really less here. The same can be said for the bass guitar.
  • Pads here are the star of the show. Well panned and moving throughout the song.
  • Guitar is located at the far right of the stage.
And many more... Below are some of my favorite test tracks.

Lingus by Snarky Puppy
Thriller by Dirty Loops
Redefine by Incubus
Never too Much by Luther Vandross
P.Y.T by Michael Jackson
I'm not in Love by 10cc
Alice in Wonderland by Bill Evans
Pressure by Paramore
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac
Adia by Sarah McLachlan
Love Bites by Def Leppard

SOURCES AND GEARS

ADDITIONAL NOTES – TIP ROLLING

I highly suggest to tip roll on this pair to suit your preference. On this review I tried the BGVP E01 which provides good sealing and enhancement on all lows, mids and highs. Lows was added quantity, mids almost the same, and the highs was more open with this tip. If you want to modify T2 sound sig, tip rolling is an affordable way to achieve this. Strongly suggested.

VERDICT

The T2 classic, was designed for a specific purpose and that is to be used as a reference monitoring for musicians. And it delivered. I used it on my gigs, live streams, and studying songs. The almost flat response is very beneficial for musicians who need to study their parts specially for vocals, keyboard and guitar players. For the casual listener, this might not be it. It is also nice to know that it gives minimal coloration to what is intended to be heard.

An exception is the veiled sounding trebles. But you have the option of tip rolling to open up that shimmer on top. I tried tip rolling and it made T2 more enjoyable for me. I highly suggest you do this to fit your preference. Conclusively, T2 is a very capable IEM as a musician’s tool starting at a very nice price at 119$. As a musician, I find this pair very useful and a must have tool for an instrumentalist and vocalist.

Build:
The shells are made of Egger allergy free resin. It is smooth to the touch and has a shiny finish. It is also translucent so you can see the balanced armature drivers and other internal stuff if you shine a light on the shells. The faceplates are decorated with golden "febos" cursive lettering. The are no vents on any part of the shells which improves the noise isolation. The nozzles are a bit short but I didn't have any problems with the fit. The nozzles also have a lip to hold eartips in place and a metal mesh filter to keep dust out.

IMG_20211009_084720-01.jpeg
IMG_20211009_084802-01.jpeg

Now let's get to the sound.

Lows:
The lows are reproduced in a relaxed manner. Subbass depth is slightly below average and has a bit of a weak rumble that also dissipates quickly. Midbass is also toned down, with a note weight that is on the thin side.

Overall, the lows doesn't have much presence here but the good thing is that it doesn't lack body. The transition going to the lower and upper mids receives sufficient support from the lows for the mids to not sound thin.

Mids:
The mids have a neutral position. The articulation and clarity in this section feels lacking a bit. Vocals, especially female ones, sound a bit dark. It seems as if something's blocking it; making it sound slightly unnatural. Instruments are also noticeably affected by this.

Overall, the mids doesn't have that liveliness that I'm looking for. The veil in the sound is not that much noticeable on male vocals, but it becomes really troublesome on female vocals.

Highs:
The highs are placed at the center of the mix. Treble reach is just adequate, and just like the lows, the decay of the treble is quick. On some tracks, the extension might feel a little lacking. And as expected, fatigue will never be a problem with the T2 Classic because of the said tuning of the highs.

Overall, there is a rolloff in the treble just like the bass. But thankfully, the bass is tamed so the presence of the treble is not affected by it, and the subtleties in each track are still fairly appreciated.

Soundstage and Imaging:
The stage has a slightly below average expansion. The width expands marginally better than the height. Imaging is good, but can definitely be improved if not for that hint of darkness in the mids. Layering is average as well as the instrument separation, while there is a fair amount of congestion on complex tracks.

Conclusion:
The T2 Classic can get the job done if it's going to be used for its intended purpose; and that's for stage monitoring. It's well built, with a shape and size that will definitely fit most ears. But in an audiophile perspective, the T2 Classic might leave you wanting for more especially the extension on both ends of the spectrum, and its resolution and clarity in the midrange.

Greetings and welcome to my another IEM review, mates. And here it is, I have a product on hand from an audio company, Hisenior.

20210918_145132_HDR.jpg

Hisenior is an audio company from China and its specializes on designing and manufacturing of Custom In Ear Monitors for professional use and also for audiophiles. The brand name is a portmanteau of Hi-fi and Senior. And now they are now offering some UIEM options from their line-up products for more versatility and ease of use. I actually wanted to try their product and have a good communication with their manager on a social media site for I'm really interested on their product.

And now here it is, presenting the Hisenior T2 Classic.T2 Classic either a succesor of their T2U product or just a variant. It is an all- Balanced Armature driver set-up in a resin shell that was marketed as a professional tool for musicians especially for vocalist, drummer, keyboardist and guitarist to monitor the sound quality of their respective equipment.

20210918_145103.jpg20210918_145109.jpg
20210918_145115_HDR.jpg

The Hisenior T2 classic packaging is quite very simple and utilitarian as the IEMs and other accessories are cramp inside of a hard polycarbonate plastic protective square container case that is similar to a pelican case. Besides the IEMs, the said included accessories are extra silicone eartips of a standard different sizes, a pair of memory foam eartips, a decent quality 8-core OCC black cable that really looks cool and suits well on my character and a cleaning sheet. (By the way this is reviewer's tour package, the retail version has a packaging box.)

20210918_145043_HDR.jpg

This set has a Two(2) balanced armatures which are premium ones as it was sourced from a very estimable audio solution company, Knowles. Its comes up with a jet black colour scheme with a gold cursive writing print of the word "Febos". The resin material use for its protective shell on T2 Classic is actually imported from Germany, the well-known Egger resin use for medical and industral application. For these IEMs are moulded into UIEM shell shape, they are indeed fits perfectly into my medium-size ears as its shell shape contours very well and also a lightweight one yet sturdy. Hisenior implemented a MMCX connector for this set for flexibility reasons but to be honest I prefer 2-pin connector. These are unvented IEMs that might give some unpleasant experience to some individuals due to the possible build-up of air pressure. Overall, the aesthetics are elegant and appealing to the eyes of minimalist.

20210918_144631_HDR.jpg

The scalability regarding on powering up to drive this set is excellent as it has a low impedance rating that requires only minuscule of power from media player sources like laptops, smartphones and DAPs. Their loudness level really scales up in a few incremental volume steps.

20210918_183556.jpg

The tonality of this IEM actually reminds me of a particular headphone that I really like before, The ATH M30x as they have both aim those emphasis on a certain parts of audio frequency range spectrum on their intended tuning. These set carrying a balanced-neutral sound signature for it has an ample boosted bass, a slight emphasis on mids and neutral and smooth highs.

20210918_144741.jpg

Ill do the most important part of this review and it is the describing its sound characteristics of each part of its frequency range of this unit.

LOWS/BASS:

The bass has both of quantitive and qualitative points. It is punchy, precise and surely it has that slam that basshead will accept this kind of bass mark. Despite that this is handle by woofer balanced armature, its does performs well as I do hear those gruffiness and rumble that reaches decently through its depth. The midbass has a well-textured to sound it more substantial on its note weight. You will notice the authoritative sound of the bass kicks, the guttural and growling sound on every slapping, fretting and plucking of a bass guitar, and and last thing is throaty and powerful of bass-baritone vocals as how delineate they are across the sound spectrum. The transients response has an above average speed as I notice that decay rate is on more conservative moderate pace

MIDS:

The mids here is definitely the most noticeable feature of this set as it has a good qualities of a midcentric tune IEM; clarity, resolution, lukewarm and immaculate. I really like how the vocals (both male and female) are well-rendered, emotionally sweet and manifest its natural tone. Instruments of all types from percussive to winds ones sounds organic and life-like to be rated has a good timbre quality. The crunchiness of a acoustic guitar. The immersive resonating and reverberating crisp of every twang and plucking, the mellowness and richness sound of a keyboard instruments like electric piano and organ, And the penetrating and sustaining precise hits of snare drums. Mids are actually my sweet spot and I'm quite bias on them and will certainly give a high score on it.

HIGHS/TREBLE:

To be honest, there is nothing spectacular on how great the treble quality of this particular set. Surely that they have good attributes on this one like being on a neutral side, smooth and has decent detail retrieval. This is not an airy treble that trebleheads wanted on their high frequency choice as it has that lack of that harmonics quantity and sparkle that will influence its extension reach. Another good thing of this set is that absence of sibilance and harshness for the tuning of upper mids/ lower treble are well-balanced across of its frequency spectrum. The shimmer of cymbals and crashing of hi-hats are acceptable to sound natural.

SOUNDSTAGE and IMAGING:

The dimension size of soundstage is on above average, more on ceiling reach of height and distinctly on average depth. It has decent sense of spacing as the separation are apparent between the vocals and instrumentalists. As for imaging, it is quite sufficient, not the most accurate but I can still pinpoint each positioning and placement of instrument and singers in respective channel but in a broader sense.

For a conclusive statement of this review, This IEM is very a capable tool for professional and casual audiophiles alike as it perform very well. While this is not a flawless or strikingly well-tuned IEM, However it is admirably deliver a well-balanced tuning that will gain appreciation from its user as they are pleasantly sounding as they will be accustomed to be embedded in our gray matter. I am still grateful that I have a given a chance to do a review on this set.

For Professionals, By Professionals 🎼 - Hisenior T2 Classic Review
Pros: - flat neutral tuning
- warm punchy bass
- natural open mids
- smooth highs
- wide soundstage
- wide imaging
- super easy to drive
- great fit and noise isolation
Cons: - flat neutral tuning might not be for you
- dynamics
- extension
- soundstage depth and layering
Hisenior T2 Classic is Hisenior's 2BA offering at the sub-$150usd price range. It retails for $119usd and it sports 2 Knowles BA drivers, with one handling low-mid and the other handling the highs. In terms of unboxing experience, I can't speak too much of as the unit I got was a review unit with no box. However, what I can do is speak on what I got. My review unit comes with 5 different sizes of silicone ear tips, 1 set of foam tips (small), a pelican case, an MMCX 3.5mm SPC cable, and lastly, the IEM itself.

Overall, pretty happy with the accessory set, especially the included Pelican case. With the "unboxing" out of the way, let's start the review.

*Disclaimer: This review is done using stock silicon ear tips and stock cable.

PROS ✅:

  • I would describe the tuning here to be flat neutral, with a tilt towards warmth. In other words, "warm neutral". Do keep in mind that these are NOT MADE FOR FUN. They will not sound dynamic, nor will they sound "fun". These are made for professionals/performers who rely on flat neutral tuning to do their job well. However, I use them mainly for musical enjoyment and I love them very much. Read on further to find out why.
  • The bass here is punchy, warm, and smooth. As expected from a BA, it also has pretty good bass texture and detail. Not to mention, the bass here is also speedy and punchy. Despite being a full BA set, the BA bass here isn't too dry or boring. Don't get me wrong, it is still BA bass for sure, so if you are expecting it to be as good as DD bass, you will be severely underwhelmed. However, it has decent weight and a slight mid-bass bump to give it some punch that it needs. It isn't well extended though, with a slight sub-bass roll-off, but that is to be expected for most 1 - 2BA IEMs. In exchange for that, you get bass that is well-textured, fast, punchy, and detailed.
  • The midrange is definitely the star of the show here. In terms of the mids here, I would describe it as warm, natural, open, and detailed. With its +5dB pinna gain (or lack thereof), vocal and midrange presentation are more natural and laidback, instead of the more forward and aggressive presentation that we are so accustomed to with Harman's usual +10dB~ pinna gain. With T2 Classic, both male and vocals sound natural, laidback, and full. However, these aren't the best for female vocals as female vocals might come off as too relaxed at times, so do keep that in mind. In terms of detail retrieval, it is pretty good with more focus on micro than macro.
  • Instrument separation is great. With everything rendered wide and well separated.
  • Timbre is pretty decent for a full BA set too. Natural, slightly warm with no plasticky/glassy timbre, albeit sliiiighty dry.
  • In terms of treble, it is detailed, well-textured, and smooth. The treble here is pretty decent, with good texture and detail. However, treble extension isn't great. With an early treble roll-off, do not expect the treble here to sound airy. Good thing is, the treble here isn't overly dry sounding.
  • In terms of soundstage, it is wider and taller than deep. Although the soundstage here is wide, it is somewhat flat, with not much depth and layering.
  • It images like a flat plane too. It images wide and open, but flat.
  • Decay speed here is fast. In terms of transient attack, I find it to be slightly soft. However, do not mistake that as being smeared or overly smoothed as it is far from that.
  • The accessory set is good. Decent eartips selection, high quality pelican case, decent cable.
  • Super easy to drive. Can be driven on anything.
  • Sound isolation and fit are really good. According to their product page, these will isolate outside noise at around -20dB. Fits my ears well too, somewhat like a CIEM. Do keep in mind that fit is subjective.
  • You can get them as Custom IEMs too. You can customize the connectors, faceplate design, and many more. Just refer to the product page below for more information (Do keep in mind that getting them as CIEM will cost you slightly more).

CONS ❌:

  • Flat neutral tuning might not be for you ( lack of the typical +10dB pinna gain). But then again, these are made for professionals, not really made for fun casual listening sessions.
  • Lack dynamics. Everything sounds flat. But then again, these are made for stage performers/professionals who rely on flat neutral tuning.
  • Extensions on both sides aren't the best. Sub-bass rolls off early and Treble lacks air.
  • Soundstage depth and layering is quite flat. Could be better.
  • This is a ventless 2BA IEM. Although you do get near perfect fit and isolation, there will be air pressure build-up in your ears over time.
  • MMCX connectors (if you choose the Custom IEM option, you can customize the connectors to something else like 2pin).

IN CONCLUSION:

With a market oversaturated with V-shaped / Harman tuned IEM, a flat neutral tuned IEM is hard to come by, especially at the sub-$150usd price range.

However, Hisenior T2 Classic is exactly that.

Since the day I first got the IEM, despite its obvious flaws (lacking in dynamics, no treble air, BA bass, flat soundstage, and imaging), I still reached for the Hisenior T2 Classic (and its bigger brother, Hisenior Fe3U) almost on a daily basis - and that is mainly because of its flat neutral tuning.

If you haven't caught the gist already, I love this IEM. It is an IEM that I would miss after my review period with it. It is an IEM that I would love to own one day, hopefully as a CIEM. However, I am aware that this IEM isn't for everyone as they are tuned specially for professionals. They are flat for a reason, and I love them because of it.

I am not a professional, nor am I a stage performer. However, I am a music lover. I use the Hisenior T2 Classic exclusively for musical enjoyment and I love them for it. I just love its neutrality and its way of reproducing music, with minimal bloat and colouration. It just presents music as it is, and I love it for that.

With a budget of <$150usd, if you appreciate flat neutral tuning, or you are a professional looking for a flat neutral IEM, look no further as Hisenior T2 Classic might just be for you.
