Pros: Comfort, Tight Bass, Airy Sound,
Cons: Slightly plastic feel
Acquired a pair of 7100's at a reduced brand new price of 449.00 and have been pleased with them. Comfort wise the memory foam earpads are one of the most comfy I've used. Sound is great for dance, hip hop as well as a bit of rock. Bass is plentiful but doesn't overpower the mids / highs. Generally a great pair of fun cans for general listening.

Not too dark for my liking, they're a fun pair of cans to listen to - great with EDM, etc.

Pros: Full 24 bit support, dual dac's, aesthetic appeal
Cons: Convuluted menus, cost
I first listened to the AK100 at the London meet as Axell Grell - Chief sound engineer at Sennheiser had been raving about them and after a listen I was sold. So when the AK120 was released, I knew I'd have to get one. Absolutely beautiful little player. It's just a gorgeous chunk of tech that feels good to hold. For me personally tech has to have form as well as function and the AK120 doesn't disappoint on either front. SQ is the best that I've heard and I'd rate it higher than the DX100. Spending 1k plus on a high end DAP is going to be a big decision for anyone including me, however I'm more than happy with my decision.

With 64GB on board storage and the option to expand this via 2 x 64GB Micro SD cards is great, with the size of my ALAC / FLAC files. Overall plenty of space and the option to add micro sd's as needed.

Have tried the AK120 with my cans- didn't like it with my Amperiors, but it does really makes my Momentum's and IE800's shine. Enough power to run my HD800's, which is a bonus.

After a week, the soundstage has really opened up and the sound is just incredible. MIds are crystal clear, lows are precise and the highs aren't too sparkly. As with all decent equipment, the quality of recordings that you feed into the unit will have a big effect. The AK120 is designed to handle full 24/96 files. I have very few 24 bit files, as most are 16 bit and sound is phenomenally good. Out of interest, i tried a couple of 256kbps AAC files and sound is acceptable.

Overall really pleased with this gem of a DAP and happy to recommend unreservedly.

Whys is it good to have dual DACs?

Dual DAC designs offer a lower noise floor and better stereo separation. A lot of high end DAC's use 2 or even 4 DAC's.

Actually, portable players have only ONE Dac but more and more have Dual Dac CHIPS (one for each channel). Never heard of any portable player with more than two chips but I have seen some Dacs and CD players with up to 4 Chips per channel (and I'm not talking Frito lay here ; )

Pros: Fantastic quality, beautiful sound
Cons: Needs balanced XLR Cable to really shine
I first listened to the HDVD800 in Vegas at the CES Show in January 2013 and wasn't sure if it was worth the £1500 asking price, mainly due to the noisy environment at the show. Having spent some time with it at the London Head-Fi Meet and the chance to try it with the balanced XLR Cable with the HD800's, I was completely sold and knew I'd have to get one asap. Fast forward a couple of weeks later and courtesy of Custom Cable, I have one on my desk.

Balanced cable isn't on general release yet from Sennheiser, however I have one on order. Now even without and using the standard HD800 cable, the sound is open, neutral and a pleasure to listen to. Not to mention the simple understated looks of the Amp itself with the viewing window on top. Simply a classy looking amp.

Sound wise, it's simply incredible. A very smooth and neutral sound with enough power to keep me happy.

I'll update the review once the balanced cable arrives.

Honestly I didn't like the HDVD with my HD800. Especially not for the price.

GL1TCH3D: That's a little vague. What did you dislike about the combination? Do you own the HDVD800? Have you listened extensively? I have mine for a couple of weeks and love the sound in unbalanced mode using my 600s, 650s, 700s, and 800s. I'm waiting on the balanced cables to be released by Sennheiser before reviewing the HDVD800.

Pros: Tight bass, no muddying of sound
Cons: Headband can be tight
I wasn't really in the market for another set of headphones, but i happened to be in the Apple Store buying a cable and was just having a general look around when I saw the Amperiors. I decided to have a listen and was seriously impressed.

I'm now writing this review after having listened to them for about 12 hours in total. Firstly the cups are made from Aluminium and not some cheap plastic and look / feel very classy and the foam pads are clothed in a really nice velour type material. Comfort wise they are good for me with a fairly big head although they do 'clamp' quite tight until they've loosened off a tad with use, however I've listened to them for an hour and a half at a time with no issues.

There is also an in line control with a mic built in and I've received a couple of calls on it - sound quality is distortion free and my callers could hear me with no problems. Normal iPhone controls are there to pause / play and adjust volume. The controller also has a clip to attach to your shirt / jacket to save it flapping around, which is a nice touch.

The headband is a quirky design and is a two piece affair that can be used like a normal headphone or it splits in two and can be adjusted to give extra grip on two points on your head. I've tried both, but prefer to leave it in the 'closed' position and use it as a one piece headband.

The left earcup also swivels up 'DJ Style' so that you can listen with one earcup, not my thing, but it's there if you need / want it.

Now moving onto the main reason I was compelled to buy these...the sound is absolutely amazing! Bass is tight & deep without muddying the mid range or highs.

The soundstage is absolutely amazing for such small headphones and whether you want to listen at home or commuting these are just excellent!

Highly recommended for sound & style.

Pros: Clearer mids, Clearer highs, well made
Cons: Price
It was with some trepidation that I paid 160 GBP for a set of Toxic Cable's Silver Poison's...given that the IE80's cost 220GBP in the first place. Firstly, I can say on balance I'm pleased with them. I'm aware that there could well be a certain psychological effect in the fact that I expect the sound to seem better, so it is, however I do feel that overall there is an improvement.

The IE80's seemed to my ears to be recessed in the midrange with the emphasis on low's and the upper frequencies were a tad too bright. The silver poison cables seem to have improved this considerably. Hence why I'm happy with the investment.

Looks wise, the silver poison cable certainly looks gorgeous and they're comfortable and easy to use on a daily basis. They certainly do look a lot better than the stock cable.

If you already have an amp / dac, then it's a worthy investment in the pursuit of better sound and I can recommend them to all.

Pros: All day comfy, good bass response, stylish, excellent case, replaceable cable
Cons: case bulky,
Very impressed with the Sennhesier Momentum's. Sound is fairly balanced with clear highs & lows. They're stylish without being 'in your face' like various brands such as Beats. The quality of the leather on the earcups is impressive and I'm finding that I can use them for a couple of hours at a time with no discomfort.

Using them straight into my iPhone 4S and 320kbps tracks from spotify is giving me excellent sound and I'm happy to use these without my Fiio E17 so that I can make / receive calls whilst out & about. Call quality is good and no one has commented on external sounds or sounding distant.

Sound isolation is surprisingly good and I'm happy to use these on my daily train journey into London and home. It also helps that the Momentum's are relatively lightweight compared to other headphones that I've used.

I love the case supplied, it's well thought out, lightweight and the biggest plus being that there is no faffing around having to remove the cable to put them away, a small compartment takes care of that. It is however slightly too bulky for my normal work bag - however I did buy that to tote around a MacBook Air + iPad, so it is smaller than most.

Overall they are stylish in an under stated way and sound is pretty impressive and I'm happy to use the Momentum's on a daily basis.

Bought in the UK for £250

Pros: Excellent sound quality
Cons: No proper EQ
Great little amp that improvs the sound on my IE80's no end. I use it everyday for commuting and have no hesitation recommending for out of home use. Bought in the UK from Amazon for £100

I can hardly call the lack of a proper EQ a con, I've never seen a DAC/amp that actually has even the basic EQ functions that this one has.

Still doesn't mean that it's acceptable and if manufacturers realise that their customers want it by reviews such as this, then it's worth saying.

The EQ is better than anything else you can find in this price segment.
