In case anyone has not seen this, and this applies to US only, Elusive Disc is selling brand new Omega 2's with full 2 year US warranty for 1849.00. This is for a limited time only as the regular pice is 2200.00. I am very tempted to buy a pair, but I am wondering if Stax is getting ready to...- Ken B

Woo Audio Electrostatic Amp
Is anyone familiar with this amp? I know it is based on Kevin Gilmore's original all tube design with additional power supply improvements according to Jack Wu. The price looks quite tempting at $1250.00. I'm currently using a 404/717 so I'm considering moving to an all tube design. It would be...- Ken B

Stax SRM717 Question
I recently purchased a used 717 and noticed an audible hum through the headphones. This occurs when the volume is advanced beyond the half way point. Under normal use, this would be quite a high volume level. But my modified SACD player puts out about .75 volts which is less than half of what a...- Ken B

I have recently acquired a 006t amp and have noticed that the IEC connecter (hot and neutral) is wired in reverse. I can determine this by using the Stax supplied two prong non polarized power cord and taking voltage readings with each plug orientation. The voltage on the chassis will be lower...- Ken B

Stax Repair
Does anyone know if there will be a problem getting Stax equipment repaired in the US after the warrantee expires for units that was purchased directly from Japan. I have heard stories that Stax Distributors/repair centers for North America refused to repair anything that was not imported by them.- Ken B

Stax output level
I'm considering purchasing a Stax 4040 system. I will be using it with an Allen Wright modified Sony player that puts out less than 1 volt. The standard output of most CD players is about 2 volts. Will I have a problem getting reasonable output levels with the 006t driver?- Ken B

AVA T7 for headphone use
Searching for a pre-amp with good headphone facilities, I have come across the Audio by VanAlstine T7 hybrid pre-amp. It appears that they have incorporated headphone capability not as just an add on, but as one very competitive with other dedicated head amps. Though the price appears to be...- Ken B

Purchasing Stax from importer
I am considering purchasing the Stax 404 Sig with either the 006t or 313 drivers from Audio Cubes or EIFL. Does anyone have experience purchasing from these companies? Do the amps require a step down transformer or will they run on 110-120v. And would the use of a transformer degrade performance...- Ken B
