Is anyone familiar with this amp? I know it is based on Kevin Gilmore's original all tube design with additional power supply improvements according to Jack Wu. The price looks quite tempting at $1250.00. I'm currently using a 404/717 so I'm considering moving to an all tube design. It would be interesting to know how it compares to the BH and if the voltage swing is similar.

This is a very sweet amplifier.
Voltage swing is 1150 Vppss (peak to peak stator to stator)
BH is 1500 Vppss

Don't mean to threadjack, but this is bugging me lately:

What's the voltage swing of the McAlister EA-1? How does that compare to the SRM-313? I listen to around 4.5 on the SRM-313 (which is at 11:00; I'm either deaf or the output of the Rega Planet 2000 is relatively quiet). What might that translate to on the EA-1? I've read that the amp is "light on the voltage swings," and I'm wondering if it might be a problem for me.

There is no way you can answer this just by the position of
the volume knobs. The mcalister amp should do about
850 Vppss.

The srm-313 should be about 1150 Vppss

To figure out how loud, LOUD is requires a signal generator
and an ac voltmeter. That way you can calibrate the relative
positions of the volume knobs for the same output voltage
say 100 vrms. Measured between a pair of stators. Be real
careful as some digital voltmeters have a 1000 volt peak to peak
limit.

My next amplifier will definitely go to 12. 11 just is not loud enough
anymore.

You're probably going deaf KG!

You wouldn't happen to know the voltage swing on the Koss E-90 amp, would you?

Head banging loud!

I don't know if this makes sense, but the louder the Koss amp gets, the better it seems to sound. This makes even less sense but have you ever powered the Omega IIs out of the Koss amp?

Can anyone give me a link to the Woo audio website. Thanks!
