I'm considering purchasing a Stax 4040 system. I will be using it with an Allen Wright modified Sony player that puts out less than 1 volt. The standard output of most CD players is about 2 volts. Will I have a problem getting reasonable output levels with the 006t driver?

My CD player has selectable output voltage. At the baltimore/DC meet last weekend I initially had it set at 0.5V and the volume had to be turned way up on the SRM-007t. At 1.0V it was very reasonable.

As long as the player has more than 0.5V at the outputs I think you should be OK.

Actually, they both put out the same exact voltages for biasing, 580v, but the difference in output voltage is quite small 300v for the SRM-006t, and 340v for the SRM-007t. Those extra 40v will make a small difference in volume, but not a whole lot.
