Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones

I tried the PX7 and now have the NC700. The PX7 is the better sounding headphone, no doubt. However the NC700 has much better anc. The call quality is also better. Those are my main use cases and I'm happy with the nc700.

Violectric HPA V281 - Vorsprung durch Balanced (September 2023 Update: Limited Reissue Edition up for preorder!)

I've been through several amps - including a GS-X mk2, Moon 430HA and a few others. Listening to a v281 with the 128 step and remote now and I consider it to be one of the best ss amps I've heard. There's isnt a headphone i've owned that doesn't sound good with the v281. Its got a touch of...

Yes I already have a Holo Spring Kitsune and RME. Was just trying to ensure there's no other advantage to gettiong the xe. Think I'll get a Phonitor 2. Thanks !

If I have no interest in the Phinitor's dac (which I dont) and I'm ok with connecting balanced headphones to the back of the unit, I'd be better off with a Phonitor 2 rather than a xe it sounds like. I may pick one up to try.

I liked the Stellia and the focal house sound in general. Love my Z1R (with the neotech cable upgrade). If only the Stellia had a better sound stage ! That's the only thing that's preventing me from pulling the trigger. May try the verite closed but have heard conflicting opinions. Oh and want...

GSX Mk2 or Nimbus us4+ or Taurus Mk2?

The moon 430HA is a great amp. Too bad, it doesn't get a lot of love around here. A very neutral, slightly laid-back classy sounding amp that doesn't hit you on the face. And that volume control is simply amazing on the moon. Congrats !

Considering GSX Mini and Benchmark HPA4..

Great choice. Congrats. I agree and left the hobby for nearly 5 years. Getting back into it for the last 6 months or so. Sound is such a subjective thing, we all hear differently, enjoy different music genres and value different attributes. Oh well. I hope you enjoy the amp and please dont...

Considering GSX Mini and Benchmark HPA4..

Sure. There are also measurements that contradict it. -1db at 30hz and -2 at 20hz per innerfidelity. Even then, you're not going to hear anything below 20hz and even at 20hz you may not hear it on your headphones anyway. In any case, I dont make purchase decisions based strictly on a chart. I've...

Considering GSX Mini and Benchmark HPA4..

Best is based on synergy with my system, how neutral an amp is etc. Massive coloration ? Have you even heard the v281 and 430HA. Because the general consensus is they considered neutral or as close to neutral you can get. I certainly haven't heard anyone refer to these as massively colored...

Considering GSX Mini and Benchmark HPA4..

I never understood why the Moon 430HA isn't celebrated more here. But again, there are some amazing products (eg: RME ADI-*, Ultrasone Signature Pro/DJ) which dont get a lot of press for reasons I don't want to get into. The moon 430HA and the v281 are two of the best solid state amps I've...

Considering GSX Mini and Benchmark HPA4..

While I haven't listened to the GS-x mini, I have owned GS-X mk2 for a while. There was a user who reviewed the mk2 against the mini and preferred the mk2. Which would make sense given the price difference. Justin's amps are all great and they sound as good as they look. You cant go wrong. For...

Considering GSX Mini and Benchmark HPA4..

I had a gs-x mk2. Was looking at getting a HPA4 but decided not to. While reviews are generally great and it seems like a technically awesome amp i also read reports that its a bit cold, analytical sounding. I got a great deal on a Violectric v281 with the relay volume and remote. While i...

Closed back Headphone recommendations needed please?

Another vote for the Ultrasone Signature DJ and Pro. Excellent headphones that dont get a lot of mention here (as they dont have marketing folks here unlike some of the other brands). Seriously good closed headphones and nothing comes close in the price range.

    RME ADI-2 DAC Thread

Let's see - the RME Pro FS is $1700. The Chord TT2 is $5500. Not even a fair comparison and I'd be very concerned if the TT2 didnt sound better given the price. A better comparison would be the RME vs the Hugo 2. Even then the Hugo 2 is $2500 vs $1700 for the RME. Having owned both, I much...

Phonitor is not a good amp?

I have the Z1R and just went through a similar decision process myself. I have two great dacs (Kitsune spring L3 with singex and RME ADI-2 Pro FS BE). Just sold my moon 430HA (which is actually a great great amp) just to try something new. I dont enjoy analytical hyper-detailed amps. I value...

Benchmark HPA4 Headphone / Line Amplifier Impressions

i plan on buying one of these amps: HPA-4 or Masskobo 394 mk2 or Pass Labs HPA-1 or Luxman p750u Has anyone had a chance to compare any of these amps with the HPA-4 ? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

    TH-X00 Upgrade

I have the TH900 mk2, Z1R. Have a love-hate relationship with both. Our sonic preferences seem similar. Recently, after a lot of research I purchased the Ultrasone signature DJ. Do yourself a favor and give the DJ or dxp a listen. I've never been this satisfied with a headphone in a long time...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

The treble was tolerable and is not why I returned it. The bass (high bass prominent) did not reach deep. Also I wasn't thrilled about the separation and imaging. It sounded a bit congested with complex passages. The Ultrasone signature dj/dxp are a bit more expensive but they just did so much...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

I tried the dt1770 and ended up returning as i didnt like the sound signature. I loved the aesthetics and comfort though. There is no way i would pay $450 for the drop version. I ended up paying a bit more and went with the ultrasone signature dj. Absolutely love them and they are now my...

    Ultrasone Signature DJ

I took a chance and purchased a brand new pair. Have been listening to them for sometime. These are wonderful headphones and are here to stay. They are my portable/office headphones. The 300hz dip was offset with the RME ADI-2 excellent eq. The sound quality on these is absolutely superb. Bass...
